  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

my pastor was preaching something that really got to me.

he was talking about how in acts the bible says God showed himself alive with many infallable proofs...after his passion.

his passion was the cross.

how could his cross be his passion?

... it just really spoke to me about how sometimes God will call us to endure things that he wont release us from... and we are just tied to it and theres no getting off of it...

and enduring it... for maybe the rest of our lives.
enduring something thats terrible...

thats what real passion is.
staying faithful, and praising, even if the pain... thats passion.
thats what makes true passion.

wow.

Nod the Cross was a Passion of Christ's. However, He endured that Passion because He had greater Passions...pleasing His Holy Father and being reunited with Him! As could our Lord foresee...eternally saving multitudes of people...even physically saving lives from premature death...not to mention countless blessings and miracles that been poured upon His People and the whole world because of Jesus' selfless sacrifice on the Cross, His Death, victorious Resurrection, and Ascencion! Our Lord's Passion for His Father and for people gave Him unspeakable joy to endure His sufferings!

Hebrews 12:2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

That's such a fantastic revelation to grab a hold of. For me it came when I read John 15:13 (which im soon going to get tattoo'd)... It spoke deep into my heart, and I have never forgotten the verse.

John 15:13
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

God Bless, metal.

well, as i see it.
when it said " after his passion, he showed himself alive..."
the word passion was referring to the cross. thats what he came to earth for.

and if this is right, it means so much that when the bible spoke of Jesus' passion, it used the cross as the perfect picture.

it says to me, passion is not the ability to get emotional in a worship service, its not even the ability to cry for God, true Jesus like passion, is when you endure the worst, and still keep your joy, still keep your faith, and stay faithful to him through it all.

it means to me that true passion isnt pretty and it isnt supposed to be, and a nice picture of a man crying on his knees in prayer is not a picture of true passion, a picture of true passion is a man dying and still loving Jesus.

like missionaries who watch their wives and daughters raped and burnt alive helplessly, .... and still love Jesus.

im just not sure you got what i was saying.
like the cros, his death, is where Jesus passion was fully exposed, not any amount of emotion he displayed elsewhere.

i just think the lives many christians live, are too easy, too pretty, too calm, and it isnt like Jesus at all.
im not trying to be critical, im the same way, but im trying to change with all my might.
