One of the books I read this weekend is called Inspiration by Dr. Alden Thompson. In reading I was repeatedly struck with the fact that if more people had read this back when it came out in 1991 they would have found the answers for a lot of the questions that are still being asked today!
For instance, we can probably find some SDA's today who believe in verbal inspiration. But, the book points out that Ellen White didn't believe or teach it (page 28--material came from 1 SM 15-23, esp. 21-2), nor did the people who actually worked with her (A. G. Daniels and W. W. Prescott, page 268-9).
Or, the alleged vision of the moons of Jupiter (see pages 295-6).
