High School Shows

What is everyone's opinion on doing shows in high school. I have "student directed" 2 shows at our high school and I plan on doing one more next year. (Then I'll graduate... and who knows?) Anyway, it's a lot of work, but totally worth the great feeling you get on opening night if you ask me!!

yep i love high school shows!!!! i have been onstage, a Production Assistant and a Stage Manager. hoping to be Assistant Director this year!

lol. really all a director does is tell the actors how to do a certain scene... isnt it??

well... that's only part of it. When I was Assistant Director, I did everything!! From props to lines to costumes to set... to making sure the cast and crew had water on opening night. It was a lot of work.

Ha ha That's great. Ever since I got started with this stuff... I don't know what I'd do if I weren't involved either! I'd probably about die of boredom. Ok... maybe not... but you get the point.

Ha Ha. Yeah, I pretty much ran the show when our director gave his *speech* at the beginning of the show, he told the performers that "when Nicki talks, you listen and DO WHAT SHE SAYS! If we lose Nicki, this show won't happen. I mean it, so if you have a problem with it, figure out how to deal with it or leave." I suppose he didn't have to go that far.... but you get the point!

BTW: does your school keep the show a secret for a long time? I mean, I know what it is... but the rest of the student body won't find out until December, a couple of weeks before auditions.

no our school is very open about what we are going to be doing... everyone knows well before Auditions what show will be pt on.. it works well!
