  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

OK...so like how come a high Maintenance woman never sees herself as high maintenance?

How come most women perceive high maintenance as gold digging?

And when discussing this with a significant other I am on the losing end of the discussion...WHY?

I've never thought of someone being high maintenance as related to gold digging. I'd love to date a high maintenance girl, but not because I want a wad of money. To me, a high maintenance woman is one who has expensive tastes: she likes to dress well, essentially. I want a beautiful woman who knows how to take care of herself. I really don't care about her net worth.

Next time someone gives you that crap, just tell them that you believe in the "power of the individual".

you confused me there with that last line, John. I actually thought you were venting about your girlfriend  :p

anydoodle, women don't like being called high maintenance. period. there's a lot of negative association with the phrase. If you know a woman whose high maintenance ways are affecting you personally to the point that you feel like you need to say something, stay away from that phrase because she will shut down and get defensive. Instead, say things like, "I noticed you're spending an awful lot of my money on things I cannot really afford, we need to address that."

or if its clinginess you're talking about, then address that issue. Find out why she's so desperate for your attention, chances are there's a deep-seated problem there thats never actually been addressed and that person might need someone who cares about them to bring it up in a loving way.
