High doom factor

While this is a bit off topic for OT, you guys are probably they groups I'm most "friends" with (despite not having you guys on my friends lists).

So here goes. By the 29th of November, I will have done:
2 computer labs(~6 hours each total work)
2 spectroscopy labs (4 hours in lab, ? on report)
1 controls lab (2 hours in lab ideally, ? on report)
2 oral presentations, one of them formal (while only 30 minutes long at most, a LOT of prep is needed)
An 8 hour exam
no less than 12 hours of homework for ONE assignment in ONE class
not sure on the homework in the rest of the classes
a very long project involving confirming the validity and improving on a distillation column patent
10 hours in a car that I CANNOT work during while going to and from Thanksgiving break

ARGH!

So, I'm operating under more than a little stress and doom hanging over my head. Prayers would be appreciated, and I doubt I'll even be able to log on to check things most of the next 20 days. Hence the kitty being in care for a while.

So, hopefully I'll see you after I make it through this.

Usually a good time to find out that lots of the worry was unnecessary. I don't mean that to be critical. I am constantly amazed at the difference between my personal foresight and hindsight on such matters. Somehow the work gets done, though it seems impossible. You obviously have the tools (and I mean that seriously and objectively) for the job. One of the biggest problems I find at such times is the amount of self-created distraction, lots of it having to do with trying to figure out whether or not I can really accomplish what I need to do. Often the task are a bit simpler than they seem to be at such times. Let the Lord worry for you, or have your worry, and move forward. I have had the odd bout of working 36 hours straight, even in my 40's. Love what you do. Trust in the Lord to strengthen you. Don't listen to yourself quite so much when you are talking about things like doom.

I would like to say thank you all so much for your support.

Little update:
1 of the spectroscopy labs (but not the report)
the 8 hour test (I actually just woke up, went on a tear, did it all last night, fell asleep at 7:30 am or so. It's due Monday at noon, so its good to finally be done with it.)
1 of the 6 hour computer labs

are DONE!
... The frustrating part is, that I won't even get all of these remaining assignmenta for a while. So, for instance, the labs? Can't even get a head start on 'em. I'm starting the 12 hour + homework tonite. While only 8 problems, each one is a doozie! We're into controlling processes that have multiple interactive variables now. Joy.

Very true. This resonates so much with my personal experience that I've coined my personal credos:

The First Law of Procrastination: The less you've done on an assignment, the longer you think it will take.
The Second Law of Procrastination: The longer you think about how long an assignment will take, without actually starting, the longer it actually will take.
[Alternative statement: Expectations created in accordance with The First Law of Procrastination are self-fulfilling.]
The Third Law of Procrastination: Go do work, now!

However, it is also true that the longer you procrastinate, up until the night before the due date, the less time it will take to finish a job (if you finish it). First Law of Adreno-dynamics.

That's quite true, busterdog...I often find that the projects I was stressing over end up being much simpler than I thought, and end up finishing themselves. It's the actual starting that's difficult...

I learned that lesson at about 19. However, it took another 25 years to learn how to implement it practically. Makes me feel pretty silly sometimes.

Just a quick update before I log off again.

Okay, the work load is down to (or up to) this:
3-4 hour HW, due 26th
Oral presentation on the merits and deficiencies of an article on surface catalysis, 26th
Oral presentation on the distillation column experiment for senior lab, 28th
lab report on Transmission Electron Microscopy, due tomorrow
lab report of IR/Raman microscopy, due 26th
8-problem, 12-16 hour HW, due 29th
Mass Transfer Ops distillation column patent project, due 30th
Nothing at all- due 27th.

So, I'm finally closing in on the end of the work, after which I can drop by here for more than 5-10 minutes every week or so.

I can't wait to come back and catch up on what all y'all been saying.

Okie dokie. Almost done here. I've got one computer lab due at midnite that got assigned in the middle of the doom rush, but other than that it is DONE until the 5th when I have my first exam and another lab report due :/

I'm up STILL, as opposed to just getting up at the moment and am about to conk out. One of my projects got an exstention until today, and boy did I need it! I had one of those "I'm done, I think, but oh wait, there's one sentence tucked away within a 6 page description that means I've only done 1/3 of the work and it's due at 2pm tomorrow AUGH!" moments. So, I've been in the computer lab since 3 yesterday afternoon except for one excursion to the student center for food, and the only thing keeping me awake is the two Monsters I drank. So, among other things, my internal sentence length and paragraph editor is dead. It burned out keeping the paper I just wrote and turned in all my work with in presentable condition.

Just thought I would let you know I am still alive, and I can't wait to catch up on some stuff I missed, and I'll try not to be a thread necromancer.

I also have exams and such forthcoming...most of my projects are done, but I really should not be procrastinating now, but studying for my chem finals. Spectroscopy, charge transfer bands, spin allowances...joy.
