  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

There are a couple things I sometimes do.

I write a receipt for the sin, then I write "Cancelled by Jesus" across it. Then I put the receipt away and if the sin ever bothers me again, I go find the receipt and remind myself that it is over and done with and shouldn't bother me again.

Sometimes I pretend that I am reaching into my heart and pulling out the sin with all its guilt and pain and handing it over to Jesus and saying, "Here, you died for this, it is yours." Then He takes it and it is gone from me forever.

Or, I'll confess it, either on a piece of paper which I then burn, or to a close friend who will listen then remind me that Christ died for this sin, too, and it is forgiven.

These things work for me. :)

Thank you, everyone for all the thoughts. All of it is very helpful to me. But one thing that all of you have said in common is that no matter what, just keep bringing everything to God. Good, sound, Godly advice. Evie, thanks so much for starting this thread. I am afraid that some times I don't have godly sorrow regarding my sin, maybe I don't recognize it as darkness in me, but if I take it to Jesus and He shines His light on it, then my sin is exposed as the darkness it trully is. I don't know about you guys, but when that happens, I can't do anything but fall on my face before the One who knows all truth. I fall on my face before Him, in fear, in repentance and in awe.
