  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi.

My name is Rich I'm 34 married with 2 kids. I grew up was raised and live in the state of Connecticut.

I was saved on July 23rd 1998. My life hasnt been the same since. I'm still learning and growing in my walk with Jesus.

I'm a survivor of abuse. My abusers were my parents mostly, a cousin, and peers at school. I developed severe depression and anxiety in the late 80's while still living with my parents. Years later or currently I'm still dealing with depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD with therapy and medication, however first with Jesus. Because of my mental conditions I cannot hold down a job. I do get Social Security but my family and I still struggle. My wife has a degree and does work fulltime. However she also struggles with depression and we struggle to make ends meet often.

Its hard for me to deal with. I feel inadequet as a man, father, husband. Not being able to take care of my family the way I would like to. I often feel suicidal because of it.

I ask for your prayers. We have crucial bills in lingo that need to be paid and dont have the funds to pay for them. We are in debt over school loans that have to be paid off for my wife and other debt that we are atuck in. I ask for prayers for something to happen. I would ask my family but I dont talk to my family extended family that is..I havent talked with my parents in about 10 years. They at this point would kick me when I'm down and take the change outa my pocket. They are alcholics and dont consider me a part of the family.

Godbless and Thanks for the prayers

In Christ Rich

MY DEAR BROTHER IN CHRIST,

Your story is a painful one to read given all the hurt and suffering you have been through. However, i am more troubled by your statement--"Its hard for me to deal with. I feel inadequet as a man, father, husband. Not being able to take care of my family the way I would like to. I often feel suicidal because of it." These negative feelings about yourself are, of course, attacks of the Evil One and you MUST stand up and fight against such wrong thinking with God's Truth each and every time these wrongful thoughts enter your head.

WHAT IS THE TRUTH OF THIS SITUATION: That for the past 7 years your life has been surrendered into the hands of an ALL-LOVING, ALL-KNOWING, AND ALL-PROVIDING HEAVENLY FATHER, who cares more about you than you could ever possibly care about yourself. Your continued trust in Him will enable Him to provide you and your family with everything you need for happy fulfilling lives. THIS IS GUARANTEED TO YOU IN THE SCRIPTURES OVER AND OVER AND OVER--SO THERE MUST BE NO QUESTION ABOUT THIS IN YOUR MIND. ANY QUESTIONING OR DOUBTS WILL BE TURNED AGAINST YOU AND BECOME WEAPONS SATAN CAN USE TO TURN YOU AWAY FROM GOD AND FROM THE BLESSINGS HE WOULD BESTOW UPON YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!
What i would strongly suggest you do, my Brother--and perhaps your wife (i'm assuming she, too, is a Christian) as well--is memorize (even though its rather long) Matthew 6:25-34. This Scripture is your sword and shield against the attacks of the Evil One who is seeking to turn you away from God and back into the darkness from which you were delivered 7+ years ago. Every time the attacks begin regarding the APPARENT gravity of your situation, your SO-CALLED "inadequacy" as a man, father, husband, or whatever other FALSE GARBAGE thinking Satan throws at you, begin to recite the Scripture passage and continue doing so until the negative feelings disappear and the peace of the Spirit takes their place.
In addition, have you checked to see if help is available to you through your Church? You need a Pastor/Elder/Priest or whomever to talk to about both these attacks by Satan and also your much-needed healing of the effects of your past abuse. (As you know, the drugs can't heal, they can only cover up the symptoms--YOU NEED GOD'S HEALING IN THESE AREAS!) Get some help and some shoulders to lean on--YOU HAVE AN EXTREMELY HEAVY BURDEN AND IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE TRYING TO CARRY IT BY YOURSELF. FIND SOME SOURCE OF SUPPORT, HELP, ENCOURAGEMENT, AND GUIDANCE WITHIN YOUR FAITH COMMUNITY. THIS IS ONE OF THE THINGS ENTAILED IN BEING A CHRISTIAN, SO DON'T BE ASHAMED TO ASK FOR THE HELP YOU NEED.
This is already way too long(sorry!), so i will close. You have my admiration for having survived all you have survived in your past. MAY GOD BLESS AND KEEP YOU AND YOUR FAMILY, NOW AND FOREVER! You and your family are in my prayers.

WITH LOVE IN CHRIST.

Wonderful advice from our dear brother ephaimanesti.I would especially say to engrave this verse on your hearts.

Mat 6:26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

God can not lie don't forget that.satan on the other hand is the father of lies. I would suggest you read the testimonies under the testimony forum on this site and the ones here and familiarize yourself with how faithful God is to provide for the needs(but not necassarily the wants) of His children. Have faith and trust in Him.

I am so sorry to hear you experienced such a terrible life. May God guide and bless you. Don't ever give up on Jesus. He is very, very real. He is infinite. He is also human, for He bled and died on the Cross for us, giving us all an example of perfect humility to follow. Are you much of a visual or poster person? Some nice big religious posters on the walls would sure change the mood of any room. Posters like, 'If you were accused of being a Christian, would there be any proof?' or pictures of Christ on the Cross with huge thorns encircling His head. Very inspiring. Some people mock religious bumper stickers, saying, 'Well, that person's car sure is going to Heaven', but a religious bumper sticker on the glass or bumper can strengthen your inner conviction, and be a constant witness to people all about your faith in Jesus. We once had a pickup truck and we covered the inside of the cab interior roof with those stickers, and because of that, we called it the 'God truck'. You know, stickers like 'Christ is Lord', and 'Mary had a little Lamb, and He saved the whole flock' and that kind of thing. Do you wear any kind of a cross? Gotta have one of those. It's a beautiful way to strengthen your faith walk. May your Christmas be a blessed one for you and your loved ones, rich in the true blessings and example of the Saviour.
