• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi everyone,

I'm sorry I haven't posted for a while. I probably won't do much posting, I have a really hard time posting... I have been reading the threads and praying, however. Becca, I am praying for your Mom... and Rachel, you posted something the other day that really encouraged me, as well as gave me encouragement that the Lord is hearing my prayers... I don't remember exactly what it was, but I did want to tell you that, and thank you...

I just wanted you all to know that while I really don't want to post much at this time, you are definitely on my heart! After I posted the first couple of times, I started really struggling badly again in my thoughts...

I decided to re-read "Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners" by John Bunyan. I read it before, hence me picking Pilgrims Progress for my screen name... but I didn't finish it the first time, because it was soooo much like how I felt, that for some reason I just couldn't handle reading it all.... but, this time as I've been reading it, I've been getting SUCH great comfort!!

Mitzi, I just want to tell you something... the quote that you put on the bottom of another post you just posted recently... that same exact quote from John Bunyan encouraged me greatly a few weeks ago!!! After reading Grace Abounding a few weeks ago, the Lord used it to greatly encourage me, and really tell me that I CAN be useful for Him, and that He DOES have a purpose in it... I was so encouraged! And I wrote some friends who had helped me through these problems, letting them know how encouraged I was, and I put some quotes from Bunyan in the letter, and that quote was one of them!! Things like this really serve as confirmation from the Lord to me, that He is leading me through all this... I'm sure you all have had these moments as well....I know with this disorder we can seem to have ups & downs...I love hearing how the Lord has and is continuing to work in all your lives....

In His Grace,
Laura

Laura,

I'm so thankful for everyone who has prayed and is praying for my mom. People on this site have been such a blessing and a comfort to me. As far as you not posting . . . it can be draining at times, so sometimes I think the best thing to do is just to read for encouragement. I did that for a while before I ever posted anything. I still do that sometimes. I'm sure many others read and never post. I'm so sorry you began struggling again, but am delighted to hear that you are getting support from friends and by John Bunyon's book. I haven't read it, but I might should do so. You will be in my prayers.

Love,
Rebecca

Hi Laura,
What a great blessing it is to hear from you again! I've thought of you and continued to pray for you.
Pilgrims Progress - what can I say except that I thank God over and over for his servant John B! That book more than any other has really helped me so much with my religious OCD. I just told my husband yesterday that I hoped I would get to meet John B. in heaven some day and express to him how thankful I am that he wrote that book. I feel as if I already know him because his thoughts, his pain and his journey through it all have been echo's of my own.
I think it should be required reading for every Christian with religious OCD.
Any how... so good to hear from you. Thank you for your faithfulness in praying for the members of this forum.
God Bless,
Mitzi
