I'm new here, new to all this. I'm 40-ish, and looking for wisdom and guidance. I had identified as agnostic for most of my life, but over the last few years have increasingly felt a pull towards Christianity. I was raised in a non-religious household, so I have very little background in this. I attended an Anglican scripture group at school briefly, as a child, due to my late grandmother's influence, but that is it.

I'm really anxious about all this as I'm kind of an anxious person by nature. I also don't have anyone in my life who I think would accompany me on this journey. I'm hoping that I can find an understanding community here who can help me find my direction, the right direction.

Thank you for reading this, and I hope you're having a great day.

I think it is important to establish and firm up who you are and how you got that way.
You are a child of God and you got there by faith in His Word.
By "faith," I mean something only a little beyond awareness. You became, or were exposed to, something God said. It may have been the gospel as revealed in 1 Corin 15. Jesus died for your sins according to the scriptures, He was buried, and then raised from the dead. It may have been His words in Roman 10 "whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved." It may have been any number of like scriptures that result in saving faith. Key to this line of thinking is knowing that you did not "work up" some sort of faith to believe these things. You became aware of who was speaking (God) and based on His faithfulness, you believed. It was kind of automatic. Faith (belief) is automatic when you know Who it is that is speaking. He is faithful to perform His word. Your faith is based on His faithfulness. This understanding really firms up your confidence because you realize that your salvation is not based on some commitment or strength of will on your part. It is based on His faithfulness and power. He has you. You have been caught in a net. His lordship is not based on some sort of decision or conviction on your part. It is based on His catching you in His net and holding on to you. You are firm with Him. Stand in that realization. It will help you to know that He is the master of your salvation state. That is good news.

Just stay out of things that are bad as I'm sure you're no doubt very familiar with in principle and conviction knowing Jesus Christ's teachings as I have read the bible before. And I'm sure you'll never truly be alone since you have Jesus Christ and God for starters including people who still have good in them. Prevent yourself from anything too dark for you, stay safe...and still stick to who and what you are and you will find a clear path in life.
Welcome to these forums.
