  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It's really a lot like writing a story with other people-- plus there's no dice involved, so it leaves a lot more up to your discretion. :) I'd consider P&P a pretty good start, though... all the same things about staying in character apply, but you have to use your discretion as to what constitutes a reasonable action because there's no dice or computer to decide your success or failure. Generally the GMing around here is a lot looser, aside from forum guidelines and those that might've been laid down by the person who started the RPG you're joining.

Keep your spelling and grammar decent like any self-respecting writer, stay in keeping with the theme of whatever RPG you're in, and develop your characters! One good thing to retain from P&P is just to let stuff happen and see how it shakes out. That leads to some interesting twists. :)
