  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

`Hey everyone need a little help setting up a pc. Been doing a lot of research over the last several days now and it seems to get me know where last. There are so different things to choose from when it comes down to mobos .

I really need some help with some recommended set ups. I know I wanna sport Win 7, the intel core i5/i7 and some sort of high end graphics card. Looking to retire the xbox and move on to a bigger and better things(pc gaming).

Im looking for a system that will not need graphic upgrades for at least a year. Would also like to play on max settings for games coming out 2013 and would like to keep it at $1000. Hopefully this is not impossible at this price

Thanks in advance I hear nothing but good things about this website from google. I'm glad I finally took the time to make an account on this website and cant wait to get deep

Main Questions
Can everyone show me some set-ups for maxed out graphics for $1000?

You're asking for a lot for a low amount of money. Remember that many people dump $2,500+ into a gaming rig to keep things top notch.

That being said, it's not impossible. Here are a few things:

Go ASROck mobos. I've been using them for 4 years now and love them. They are less expensive than other brands but are consistently getting top ratings from places like Toms Hardware.

Go Nvidia. ATI has a lot of issues with many games because of the way it handles things like OpenGL. Games such as Skyrim have a lot of issues with ATI cards.

Search items in webstores by ratings. Make sure what you buy has a lot of positive ratings by people who actually own them (newegg actually tells you if the person has bought the item from them or not).

Before you order, go over all your parts and go over them again. Make sure all the sockets are correct and compatible.

You picked the wrong time to do this. I saved about $800 on the Black Friday sale this year to build a new computer. Ended up spending about $1,300. Luckily, the new processors will be coming out soon which means a price drop in ivy bridge.

For $1000? You can't do it. The best graphics cards on the market cost just over half of that, and games are constantly working at pushing the envelope. You need to establish a baseline of acceptable performance (i.e. X frames/second at Y resolution).

Motherboards from ASUS rock but ASRock and Gigabyte are fine too. For serious gaming you would be good with an Intel i5 CPU - an i7 is better but will cost you a lot more $$$. As for a graphics card, something like an Nvidia GTX 650, 660 or 680. I personally find a GTX 650 to be good choice.
