  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I was going to say this yesterday too, but I forgot! Doh!

Hey Polycarp...did you know St Polycarp called Marcion the first born of Satan to his face? Heh, heh... :)
Yep.

But there are two things about him that stand out above all others (other than his martyrdom) to me:

1. The way in which he could respectfully disagree with Pope St. Anicetus, while preserving Christian unity between them as bishops of the church. (That's what I try to emulate in OBOB! :))

2. His account of the last days of John the Beloved Disciple, and his statement of John's last words: "Little children, love one another."

To me, that last line is the key to living a Christian life. So what if a Baptist has a problem with the Perpetual Virginity, or we differ on the right way to address a given moral issue? That's not grounds for condemning each other!

"By this shall all men know that you are My disciples: that you love one another." That's our Lord's command, on the last evening before He gave up His mortal life in Atonement for our sins. "Though I speak with the tongues of men or of angels...."
