I think things like world hunger, homeless, etc., are difficult problems that put pressure on the Christian to act and behave as commanded by Christ himself, so it is far easier to focus on things like homosexuality and abortion of other people, and ignore the sequoias growing out of your eye.

Illegal drugs are a perfect example of what I said earlier, if they were legal, criminal groups would not profit from them, and whats more, I doubt there would be a significant increase in users, in anycase, this brings us to...

Can you imagine how much they would stand to profit if you illegalized Porn, strip clubs, gambling, alcohol, violent artistic content, etc, etc? In the passing of such laws, They would be handed a giftwrapped monopolistic empire! As illustrated in the prohibition and the current drug war, when luxury goods are illegalised, criminal groups step into the place of legitimate producers and marketers and grow in power from the immense profits they rake in.

And in your utopia, they would be undiminished, the only difference is that the industries surrounding them would be in the firm grip of criminal cartels. I truly believe that there genuinely is something interesting about this. The irony is that these holier-than-thou types who think they have some kind of right to legislate that everybody has to obey their religion seem to obsess over sex way more than your average godless-heathen.

I know this thread is aimed at Fundies...
And I'm not sure as me being a Repub/Conservative fits that bill...(I'm not Reformed/Calvanist either...)
But, there is an in between...
Alot of Non-Fundies have been bashing SOF's post....
while I agree with some of those as being some serious social problems...
I as a Conservative would rather see some Love and help spread around the world in the form of compassion first rather than bashing people over the head with what they are doing wrong?
Besides you can't tell people what to do or think without earning their respect as a person?

I would place World Hunger at the very top of the list as things "I" as a follower of Jesus and his Compassion ,would love to see conquered...
If that makes me a less than conservative than so be it.

In no particular order...

... Pride (self centered, egotistical, mean spirited "I am the center of the universe and I will be heard, but you have no such right" arrogance. Criticizing others/not respecting another person's right to their own voice or to have their voice be heard, pettiness, bitterness, envy, etc. )

...Hatred ( antilocution (see my blog if you don't know what this means), mob mentality, violence, ignorance, evil against any individual or group, etc.)

...Callousness (seeing pain and suffering, and not feeling anything...or worse, feeling anger at being made to feel anything, etc. )

...Ignorance (not seeking excellence in knowledge, not aspiring to know more, elevating doing poorly to an art form, etc. )

...Rebellion against God (Thinking yourself above God, smarter than God, or people who believe in God, refusing to admit that you could be wrong about God, etc. )

... Violence. (anger, hatred, speaking harshly, being disrespectful of a person's rights, assault, battery, killing, rape, child molestation, torture,mental warfare, physical war, etc. )

But, you see...I live on Earth. (The insane asylum of the universe) and therefor am in no ways naive enough to believe that because I wish things were like heaven on earth, they will be. Or that Earth's nature does not have a godly purpose...to refine each of us through adversity.

In a nutshell, I would be happy if people would just treat people the way they wish people would treat them. That would be a good start. But, I am not naive enough to hold out much hope for that.
