Advent begins this Sunday. 
But I think I will give something up for advent - my friend gave up snacks for advent last year and I think I will try and do that this advent.
If there is one image from our faith that fills my heart with pure love and joy and awe, it is the Nativity. It gives me shivers. I always think of how I felt when my children were born, the first time I held them and looked into their sweet little faces, into their serious-curious eyes. There are so many things that go through you. Love, joy, hope, awe, terror, and grief. All at once. And then I try to put myself in Our Lady's place and put knowing I was holding my Savior God on top of all that. I can't even imagine... Veritas said:Beautiful, dahling! What do you think of mine???
