I tried learning American Sign Language once out of a book. I got through fingerspelling and basic signs and started falling apart when I got to the more complex verbs and sentence construction. That was when I was 14, I think. Not sure I would try again, but I did find For Hearing People Only to be an informative read when I was in college. I like researching and connecting with people who live different realities, so what I learned I found to be interesting.
