The scene with Nathan in the mirror was the big shock to me - I'm not totally sure what that's supposed to mean.
Actually, Peter with no memory was a bigger shock.

Overall, great episode!

Think Hiro might stay in the past the entire season? It looks like he'll be there for a while at least. I was definately surprised by the Kensai revelations. Never saw that coming.

It was a surprise, but considering for the show, and the flow of the story, it's not too much of a shock. It goes with the character of the Kensai being not really the hero legend portrayed him to be. Also, practically speaking, it makes for easier dialog--gives them an excuse to talk in English. I imagine many people were getting tired of reading subtitles with Hiro and Ando last year.

Now, for speculation time. At first when Hiro found out the Kensai really wasn't a real hero and with Hiro with such passion to be a hero, I thought Hiro would turn out to be the real hero to uphold the Kensai legend. Still haven't ruled out that possibility, but it looks more like Hiro is going to try to be the motivating force to get Kensai to perform those acts of heroism to fulfill history's legend.

It's like that time continuum thing Star Trek uses so much. The past only would have happened the way it did because someone went back in time to make it happen that way already, so time is really just circular.

I'm not quite sure where they're taking the time travel to in Heroes. Last season, Hiro of the present couldn't change the past. No matter what he did, the outcome always remained the same. Yet, the Hiro of the future went to the present and was able to affect the outcome of his future by altering the present, which for him, was the past. If he couldn't change his past, then everything he did should have failed, but it didn't. Which brings us to season two, and Hiro now in the past. How much, if anything, can he really affect? Will these minor changes really have an effect on future (present) events?
Gotta love temporal paradoxes and time travel anomolies.

I think this season is a little slow compared to last season. It's not new enough. Claire continues to hurt herself and act surprised when she heals, Peter continues to use absorbed powers and act surprised that he has them, Mohinder's plans continue to not go the way he hoped they would, Nikki continues to work for "the man" and go on the run. It just all seems so recycled to me. And I get it already, Maya cries and kills people. We've seen that three episodes in a row now, can we move on? It even seems like they are going to use the same story with Isaac's paintings that they used last season.

I dunno. I'm just not enjoying it as much this season.

I'm still definitely enjoying it. Make sure you're not comparing the first three episodes to the season as a whole. I think if you took a group of three episodes from last season and compared them to these three, there'd be a lot of similarities with the pace.

I liked last night's episode overall. I'm a little worried about the twins story line, and a little less worried about the Hiro storyline. I'm curious what's going to happen to Sylar - lots of potential, but I can see it failing to work out. I'm cautiously optimistic about Peter at this point, but heading towards skepticism.

I feel that it has to build some story for the story to take off. I like that Peter don't know who he is, and that he obviously is around other heroes, who haven't showed their powers yet. (which I think the Irish girl and her brother are) I don't know if Candice is dead really or it is all just a very elaborate illusion on her part to make it all believable. I guess we will see. As far as niki and Micah go, we still don't really know what all she can do, other than mega strength. Maybe we will see this season. I don't know how many of you do all the "extra" stuff on NBC.com, but if you don't, you are totally missing out on the rest of the story... like Hana G still being alive and having conversations with Micah. It's not spoiler stuff.. just a little more insite to the episodes and what is happening. Makes it seem real. Last season, I got a phone call from Nathan Petrelli! It was awesome!! LOL
