Now that I think about it, I haven't had any kids come to my door Trick-or-Treating for many years, at the last 2 apartments I lived in. I thought Halloween was a dying holiday. I bought a house less than a year ago, so this is my first Halloween in this neighborhood.

I was shocked when, every few minutes over a period of about 3 hours, a total of 150 kids (including teens and a few adults, and even a few babies in strollers, plus 1 little black dog with a white stripe painted down its back to look like a skunk, that a lady was holding in her arms) came to my door. I kept count of how many kids showed up, both to keep track to see if I would have enough candy and tracts, and also so I would have an idea of what to expect next year.
I did suspect beforehand that I might have a good number of kids, since I have seen a lot of kids in the neighborhood, but I wasn't sure, and, at one point, I was even thinking that I might have to eat all the candy I bought myself, if no kids showed up. But I would soon find out that I didn't have to worry about that happening.

I handed out 1-3 candy bars to each one, plus 1-5 attractive tracts each, along with the candy. One girl even got excited when I gave her the tracts, and was very grateful, looking happily surprised that I was giving out more than just candy. She had come to the door very dejected-looking, like she was either mad or sad or depressed, saying "Trick or Treat" in a very dull, "blah" tone of voice, like she was only doing this because she had to...or maybe she had just been reprimanded for something by her parents... I don't know...however, when she saw the tracts, her face lit up, and her tone of voice changed dramatically. She looked into her bag at the tracts and said, very happily, "THANK you!" I'm sure she didn't know they were gospel tracts, but either the fact that she was getting something different from the norm, or maybe because they looked so attractive and interesting, or maybe both, surprised her to the point of being very grateful to get them.
