Heres a question for you all....I know soo many people that have been sexually abused as a child, that makes the abuser a pedophile. How many pedophiles do you know? doesnt that mean there are a heck of a lot of pedophiles out there????? statistics show there arent that many and its rare, if Im right about this then statistics are wrong. Any thoughts on this???

The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.
If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.
If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

only one in eight turn around and imitate the abuse that i know of. there is alot of abused and abusers. i think it depends on your area.
when we look at all the different kinds of violence there is in this world; there is deffinately too much greif, sin, and confusion in our mist.

Well, I thought that it was 1 in 3 people can be a pedophile. Not sure though. It is always really hard to try and gets statistics on this. I personally was sexually abused twice...by different people. As for knowing someone who is a pedophile, this is a little harder. You only know that they are one when they have admitted to it. I know of at least two other people who were done for this.
