No....have you? I would think it would be fabulous!
I love the Nutcracker. I am so sad we aren't going this year. My daughters favorite dancer will be closing her dance career with the final performance. Hopefully I will find the money to get tickets so we can see her one last time.

Do you like to drive fast?

What do you think people waste most of their time doing (beside watching TV)?

When terribly sad things happen to people that definitely seem cruel and unfair, what are your immediate thoughts toward God (beside: Why?)?

Do you splurge when invited to a party mainly involving eating?

Have you been in a situation when a friend asked you for money you do not have?

Have you lost friends because of your beliefs?

When is the last time you pampered yourself?

Are you going to stay up pass midnight at the end of the year?

Do you like to drive fast?

Yes, but with kids to raise now, I don't do it anymore.

What do you think people waste most of their time doing (beside watching TV)?

Being cranky, what is with all the cranky people lately? REALLY, if you have your health, a job, food, shelter and clothing, what do you have to be cranky about? Sure we all have our moments, but I am seeing a lot of consistent crankiness going on.

When terribly sad things happen to people that definitely seem cruel and unfair, what are your immediate thoughts toward God (beside: Why?)?

That God has purpose and plan far beyond my knowing. That the reason he blesses some may not be reward, but to give them opportunity to help others, and that the reason others hurt may not be to punish, but to give those who surround them the chance to help. That life is a growing process for our souls, and the challenges that come our way mature us to prepare us for heaven.

I understood God's love far less before I was a parent. Knowing that giving my kids everything they want and sheltering them from all struggle doesn't really help them to be prepared for life in the long run, helps me to remember that God is my father, and his wisdom is greater than my own, but on an unfathomably greater scale. Struggles, pain, sadness, is a part of preparing me for eternity.

Do you splurge when invited to a party mainly involving eating?

Not really, I'm a talker, and a slow eater, so I am usually not even done eating when others have finished.

Have you been in a situation when a friend asked you for money you do not have?

Yes, many years ago. I was still in debt paying off college loans when a boyfriend asked me to loan him money to help pay for his rent. (FYI, no I wasn't living with him). Like an idiot, I loaned it to him, only to find out that, rather than pay his rent, he went and bought a new TV. The relationship ended about a day after I made him return the TV and give the money back to me.

Have you lost friends because of your beliefs?

Yes. And it wasn't the ones I expected to reject me because I chose Catholicism. Just the opposite. My Protestant friends and family are still here. It was my non-practicing Jewish friend that couldn't grasp it. (I had considered myself to be non-demonimational Christian before, I guess she liked me better without a well known lable.)

When is the last time you pampered yourself?

The haircut and Starbucks coffee I had on December 19th.

Are you going to stay up pass midnight at the end of the year?

I did...with hubby, chocolate covered cherries and a glass of wine. Did you stay up too?

What is your New Years Resolution?

To keep better written communication with my two grandmothers who are still living. It is getting harder for both of them to hear and write. They need letters (in big print) to feel family connection. I don't live by either of them.

Did you stay up too?

Well, I was watching TV and was dozing off. So I decided to go and lie down a bit till midnight and was waken up by some firecrakers outside at 12:05. I got up and called my kids who were staying at their father's place for new year's eve. Then, too tired to open the bottle of champagne, I went back to bed!

Are you excited about 2007?

Yes,

This is my year to explore a number of possibilities.

My youngest will be in 1st grade next year, which frees up my days during the school year, so I am looking at what I want to do in this next phase of life: Mom of school aged kids.

There are a few other things adventures that are approaching, but that one is the big one.

I'll let you answer the same question on your own FTB thread...see you there!

When my 4th grade daughter, who'd had terrible 3rd grade year, won 1st place on a newstation for a report for "Students do the news". Her report was on preventing vandalism. It totally brought her out of her shell to accomplish something so public, in competition with all of the 4th graders in the city who competed. I was even more proud of her when she was a humble and gracious winner, who went and complimented those who didn't win on their own reports. Even pointing out the things they did right, and saying that she thought that everyone had done a great job, no matter who won.

Big highpoint in the year.

Definition of a 9 year old daughter: The daily temptation to rant and yell at said child and the daily desire to cry tears of joy and amazement at same said child . Best to just pray instead .

She's one of those 9 going on 16 types.

My mom says I was like that. She said it's nerve-wracking when they are a teen, but in their 20's they take on independence readily. She's right. By 20 I was on my own, paying my way through school, excited about creating my future and owning it.

Perhaps it's best to have daughters we have to rein in, rather than push out the door when they are adults....or maybe God just gives us what would be best, even if it is a lot of work.

Best to just pray for God to guide us with these gals. Constantly!

Do you watch reality t.v. (i.e. American Idol or Dancing With the Stars)?

edie

Not Survivor (though I have caught 2 final episodes). I don't dig it much.

Parts of Big Brother....but came to dislike it too.

LOVE the Amazing Race, but can't always catch it. WIll probably watch it whenever I can. I would love to enter it with my sister, but she would rather do Survivor...and I think she would win (she's kicking you know what in a multi-level marketing business, anyone who can do that can take on Survivor no prob .)

I would love to enter the Amazing Race with my husband, because it would force him to get in shape. He doesn't have the time.

Watched the 1st season of American Idol...that was all.

Have watched parts of Dancing with the Stars, wish I could dance like that too!

The Bachelor and other romance ones both intrigue me and gag me at the same time.
