can someone tell me how these RPGs work, I've never played any and have no idea how to play them

well basicly you make up a chareter and then you become the charater by posting what your charater does and says not changing what a other peorson does in there post but building on it to make a story that you involved in hope this helped

Sure! First of all, read what Legolas wrote. Do you like adventure? Mysteries? Do you enjoy writing? Then go to the top of the rpg forum and find the post by Blessed One about READ FIRST. (You might want to start with one of the Movies and Books so that you know the world fairly well or one that has good world resources.)
Blessed One's post helps you by outlining a lot of what you need to know. Also, read some of the currently running stories and find one that interests you. Then you can pm the person running the rpg and they will be glad to help you make a character up and get started! The basic requirement is to have an imagination!
