Hi guys/galls Ive come to you because I'm losing my faith.

At school and at work I'm surrounded by atheist and agnostics, all of whom criticize my beliefs. Recently the whole big argument has been on evolution, I mean, I really believe that God created everything we as Christians enjoy and love, but, it just seems..... well..... like they really have a lot of info....

Some times I really cant answer back and I'm pushed to a corner, which then is making me "question" and I know I shouldn't question. Also these guys have actually read the bible, and tell me there's all these inconsistency's.

I know it CANT be true, but some part of me is left in the open. "Far from God" can you someone help me assert my faith? Is Evolution really true?

Don't let them discourage you or lessen your faith. Let them believe what they want to believe, but require the same from them - if they insult your faith tell them to stop. It's ok - you have a freedom to believe whatever you want to. Even though you have a lot of people around you who don't believe and are wise and like what not, it doesn't mean you shouldn't do so or that you were wrong. A strong relationship to, God, other christians and the congregation might make your christian identity and self esteem about it better. Focus on that for a while and be brave, stick to what you believe in.

As to the matter about evolution, there are many christians who believe that creation and evolution don't necessarily close each other out. Like that God made evolution happen. There are also others, like apparently you do, who believe that evolution is not true. Well, I'm also quite confident that the evolution theory is a theory, and it has some gaps as well. Perhaps you could do some research on it in the internet and point out those flaws to the people who so strongly argue that it's the one and only truth and ask them to tell you why evolution closes God out.

I don't really know what to say about the Bible's inconsistencies, but I hope the things I said were of some help and that you can prepare for those "attacs better in the future. :) God bless!

Try not to get involved in those conversations since you feel unprepared to answer. Being a Christian doesn't mean you HAVE to engage in these conversations all the time. They're trying to get to you, so don't let it work. Take note of some of the things they've said and then go to your pastor and get the right answers!

Satan has always been good at asking, "Did God really say..." He started it in Genesis and hasn't stopped since!! He knows how to confuse us...don't let him.

Years ago I was an atheist. I also began college as a Zoology major. And I engaged Christians in this type of argument. Now I'm a Christian. And I still enjoy watching shows on the TV about evolution, the development of the earth, and the universe. Frankly, I don't find any conflict. It is all God's creation. And I don't have to scientifically prove Christianity, any more than I have to spiritually prove science.

As for discrepancies in the Bible, you could look for those web pages that answer these questions. As for me, I don't worry about it too much. There have been revisions to the Bible because of changed opinion or new documents found, and so I can't help but see this as God's word as presented to me by humans. And so then the important thing for me is what God is trying to tell me through the Bible.

I'd also say that it's not fun to have a bunch of people pounding on you about your beliefs, regardless of what they might be. And that's what's happening to you. It is also not fun to be feel alone regarding ones faith. Maybe you could network with Christians more.

I came back to post that minor discrepancies in translations do not change the main concept of what Christianity is about. When people bring up these things, they're going off on a tangent and hoping you'll follow them along to bring doubt into your mind. But keep in mind that Christ dying on the cross in your place for the forgiveness of your sins is important, not whether or not a word was mistranslated or whether Ahaziah began his reign in the eleventh or twelfth year of Joram (as an example).

The critical question is whether 2000 years ago someone was killed, entombed, and then got up out of the grave. If that's true, the universe is not what they're saying it is.

It was never intended as superstition. So it's not being honest with the data from that time, to assert it was all superstition.

If you need more information on that, there're sources on-Web.

Well, to tell you the truth, you are being attacked by the devil who is trying to swindle you from your Christian faith. Anyway, there is a weapon in Ephesians 6, that tells you how to fight the devil. It is the Sword of the Spirit. The Sword of the Spirit is the Bible. When Jesus was tempted, He used the Bible to fight back. Now, here is something that you should know, Satan himself has a Bible also and He is trying to use it against us! You will see this in the temptation of Jesus Christ. You may have to fight back with the Bible also. But don't give up on Christianity, because you will go home someday!

No, evolution is a complicated deception to keep those not blessed away from God, to make them sink in their own conceit which is what they prefer over understanding God.

God created the Heavens and the earth and we are called to be Children of God.

These supposed "scientists" would remove God from the equation entirely, unaware that they are themselves deep in delusion and adhering to a form of godliness but denying the power.

If you want to live as a smart beast of the field, go, follow them, and throw imagination away -- as they have.

Hi Gobb. I remember what it's like to be in college, surrounded by atheists or agnostics. It's a challenge. Just remember that the theory of evolution is only a theory. It's a man made suggestion that "this" could have happened to cause "that", and nothing more. Creation is based on more then a theory if you have a personal relationship with God. What helped me was focusing more on building and strengthening my relationship with God, and putting "pleasing God" at the top of my to do list. It takes the pressure off of pleasing others. You see, you don't have to feel pressured to respond to non-believers then, if you're not ready. Until you get grounded in your faith, it's not important for you to respond to their demands for debating. You could simply smile and say that you understand they believe differently then you do; you respect their right to believe differently, and you hope that they'll also respect your right to do the same. If they push to debate, I would just say "You know, I don't feel ready to debate yet. I'm still working on strengthening my relationship with God at this point, but let me get back to you when I feel the time is right."

In the mean time, you might consider finding a church that has young adult classes, or adult classes, that help to strengthen your relationship with God, through knowledge and understanding of His word. You'll also get to know Christian peers which is a wonderful thing, because you may make some life long, supportive, connections with some of them.

never lose faith my son, GOD has put you in that position for a purpose, he is waiting for you to tell them about him, this should give you the most hope and a reason to stick up for your Father, teach them what they do not know; increments in time

Hello Gobb. Trust God, even if you can't debate with anyone. He only asks us to believe and trust Him through His "beloved Son" --the Lord Jesus, the Christ of God (note John 14 to see what God has to say to you).

You might like to visit the site at The Institute for Creation Research, (icr.org), which is a Christian research college in Texas, which has many Ph.D scientists who show how the Bible is true as stated --very helpful information. Also, I recommend the sound ministry at www.biblecounsel.net which shows what God intends for His testimony in the world. One can ask questions there.

Remember this, that there is evolution (breeding and adaptations) going on all the time, but no such thing as a cross-over of species. All species are essentially the same as God made them to be. Don't worry about Atheists and their arguments, just smile and tell them that only God can give one happiness and peace forever, and you have that in the Lord Jesus Christ. Find your friends in a sound church fellowship that exalts the Lord Jesus.

Be strong, brother in Christ!!! Lots of great advice here. I second the icr.org website. I get their free magazine Acts & Facts and I love it!!! They have a lot of great books too if/when you are ready to build your creation knowledge base. As a scientist, a former evolutionist, and the child of evolution believers, I can say my eyes have been opened to the truth. It took 39 years though.

Also keep in mind that your faith is building their faith. It might take 10+ years, but you are planting the seeds in them. When I look back, my Christians friends and co-workers were really important in my conversion.

Blessings to you!!!
