What do you guys believe? What makes you different from a Baptist?

I've detatched myself from any denomination because none of them seem to fit my beliefs. I've recently heard of a reformed belief that sounds pretty close to my beliefs. I'm not sure if this (Semper Reformanda) is it and would appreciate it if you all enlightened me a bit.

This is a place for reformed theology. Some Baptists can be reformed, but most reformed people baptize infants and reformed Baptists do not. For the most part reformed theology teaches the absolute sovereignty of God. What that means is that God is in control of everything. God is in control of who is saved and who is not. This is called predestination. You can see this teaching in such passages as Ephesians 1:1-14 and Romans 8:29-9:29.

People seem to agree with God being sovereign, it's when we talk about him being sovereign over all things, including salvation, that tends to cause a divide.

I for one find Reformed theology the most comforting and theocentric. If we are wrong, at least we are wrong in giving God too much glory. ( I realize there is no such thing, but it makes the point I think)

Exactly the point I've made to people in the past.

If I am wrong about this, and I don't believe I am, I'd rather be wrong by giving God too much credit than not enough. (Or worse, taking it for myself.)

Excellent Post.

So as a five point Calvinist, could I fit under the Reformed title?
Of course.

I'm just trying to grasp what exactly makes Reformed different from others.
Primarily the emphasis we place on the sovereign providence of God.

God bless
