CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

my first thought would be judgment for sin since we have the righteousness of Christ, But I will give some more consideration to your question and do a little research.

In Christ, old friends don't know me anymore. It's as though I'm dead and we have no interest in each other. And this hides me from them (out of sight out of mind). A paraphrase based on personal experience.

Ok so Christ bears all the sins, they are no longer seen because they are covered by the blood. I will look into this but just my immediate thoughts.

What does Colossians 3:3 mean? [⇑ See verse text ⇑]
Paul has already noted that believers "died to the elemental spirits of the world" (Colossians 2:20). Here, he repeats the same metaphor. Since believers have "died" to sin, in the sense of being separated from it, the believer's life is "hidden," or "contained" within Christ. In the previous chapter, Paul discussed false teachers who used tricks and deceptive arguments. These men claimed special, hidden wisdom which only they had access to. In contrast, according to Paul, the believer's wisdom is found in knowing the Lord.
More specifically, this letter mentions how wisdom which was once hidden has now been revealed (Colossians 1:26). But this is not only revealed to a certain special few—it is open to the "saints." In the Bible, "saints" is always used as a general term for all who accept Christ as their Savior. Christ is described as the One "in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge" (Colossians 2:3). Christ died for us (Romans 5:6–8). When we put trusting faith in Jesus, we die to sin (Romans 6:2) and are set free from its power (Romans 6:7). Those who die—to the world and to sin—with Christ will also live with Christ for eternity (Romans 6:8).
Context Summary

Those who are spiritually free, thanks to their faith in Christ, should not live in the sins which used to be their habit. If you're going to argue the details of prepositions, that really needs to be done from the Greek.
Also, context, context, context. Plus, whenever you see a "for," you must ask yourself what the "for" is there for.
If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. (Colossians 3:1-4)
Our "true lives" are with Christ in Heaven; they are "hidden" in the sense that they will only be fully revealed when Christ returns. That is, not hidden from anybody, but hidden in the sense that they are not yet fully revealed. See also Colossians 1:26 ("the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints").
Being "in God" is an idea that also appears in 1 Thessalonians 1:1 ("... To the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father ...") and 1 John 4:15 ("Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God").
So we must live as people who are "hidden with Christ in God," and not as worldly people. We must "seek the things that are above."

It talks about your immortality (life) being hidden with Christ in the Lord. Your former vessel is now considered dead, ready to receive the new immortal body which is hidden with Christ in the Lord in the resurrection.

Hidden, I would say, means how this world can not see it.
This life is how God's love has me be and love. So, already we are experiencing this life in Christ.
And this life is not in any danger . . . of God's wrath or of any evil, at all.
"in the presence of my enemies" (Psalm 23:5), I can have all that our Father desires to share with me, of His own table. Because God is almighty to share His own safety with us, including how >
"the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." (in Philippians 4:6-7)
This is God's own peace, and God is almighty; so this peace is almighty against any anti-love, anti-peace, chaotic stuff which would violate our hearts or minds.
This is hidden in Jesus; so no stuff of this world can help this or hurt this. This is hidden "in the secret place" (Psalm 91:1), but it is no secret from any of us who live in this love.

I would also add passages such as in 1 Corinthians 13 where St. Paul says we see only through a glass dimly, but then face-to-face; or St. John in 1 John where he says that we are God's children now, but that what we will be is not fully known, but that we shall be like Christ. Further ideas tied to this, I think would be in Philippians where the Apostle tells us that we have our citizenship from heaven, and in Ephesians where we read that we are seated with Christ in heavenly places.
We are, by the grace of God, in Christ who is in heaven at the right hand of the Father, our place is in and with Him, and thus we have a citizenship from heaven even now, by which we recognize ourselves as pilgrims and foreigners in the world. These things are presently a mystery, hidden, that is unseen and unobserved; but on that future Day we shall know these things "face to face", to know even as we are known.
This is part of that great tension throughout the New Testament of the now-and-not-yet.

I believe our sins are covered rather than uncovered. Covered from the reproach of others that would introduce shame in our nakedness through a guilt of conscience. Adam and Eve and the loss of innocence are relevant to me. We are being renewed as we become Christ. We are being given white robes of fine linen.

OK some great replies.
First off my motive is not to promote argument but to mine together the jewels of scripture.
My contribution is more from a wide knowledge of the Word rather than technical details of language. Both are valuable and needed, together we can grasp the deeper meanings through a love of the Word.
Summarising the offerings so far...
1. Being hid from the world - old friendships.
2. Being covered by His blood, making our sins invisible to the Father.
3. Hidden - meaning "contained within Christ"
4. Hidden from the enemy and him being able to harm us.
5. Our lives are hidden in heaven. (to be fully revealed in the next life.)
6. Not being in any danger... Of God's wrath or evil. Fully in His peace.
So taking into account wider scripture, we know that believers are not immune to danger and may have to flee, or hide themselves in certain circumstances.
We think that the apostles apart from John were hunted down and executed.
We are told however not to fear the enemy who can harm the body but not the soul.
Peter was told that Satan wanted to sift him like wheat - but Jesus only allowed him to go so far (as with Job) Jesus is ultimately in control of the extent of Satan's activities.
So to me the 'hiddenness' is much deeper than being rendered safe from life's circumstances but rather refers to our eternal safety in His love.
No matter what life throws at us we are secure in His love.
Some are called to endure much, but are given grace to glorify Him through the experience.
Personally I believe that when we are hid with Christ in God we have eternal security.
We also have the privilege of being kept within the bounds of His love in this life.

No, the Greek word does not mean "covered." It means "hidden" throughout the New Testament, as well as in classical Greek literature.
Your Greek lexicon has misled you.

The verb kryptō is the ordinary Greek verb for hiding something.
The form kekryptai is the perfect passive. The Greek perfect is not the same as the English perfect, though. Here it implies that it is still hidden, so that "is hidden" is an accurate translation.
