Help with a 486 computer

Susan, if you are just going to get rid of it concider donating it. I use to do a lot of refurbishing for people who could not afford systems, look in the paper or ask around your church, I am sure there are people and/or groups in your area that do the same.

a good place to donate it is someplace like a kindregarden school where you can provide simple games for them to play. Or to a special school for communication thingos. Anyway, just my suggestions .

Man and i was gonna use mine as a giant paper wieght .

Don't even bother putting Windows on it I'd still be using DOS if I had a choice

Please Burn the 486 and save up a couple hundered dollars and get a computer that can actually do something, the 486 model is almost 10 yrs old.

I have a pre-286 computer. Anyone want it?

It's got a 20mb hdd and 4mb of ram (which is A LOT). It can run Windows 3.1. Even have a 1400bps modem. Lightning fast.

Actually I had two of them, the other one only has 516k ram though.

Ahhh, the memories... playing Monkey Island 1 on that machine... pc speaker ... I could finish the game in one day in 6 hours....

the easiest way you'd be able to get rid of win 3.11 is to format the hard drive

But don't even bother putting anything higher than 3.11, it'll run waaaaaaaaaay too slow and won't be able to do ANYTHING within a quarter-reasonable length of time.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to reformat. Now I'll have to find the driver for thesound card and the printer. And the CD rom, too, if it isn't already on the boot disk.
