  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi,

I've lost one of my two cats. I also have a dog. Anyways, my older, less, erm, mentally capable cat has disappeared. We actually found him a few years ago, and tried taking to him the SPCA, but they were having a cat-flu epidemic and asked if we would take him for the weekend, as it was Canada Day weekend and they were already stretched to the limit. We had, at the time of his disappearance, for over 260 weekends...and weeks, of course. He was always the Duke of Unimportantland... our other cat was the Queen, and our dog, the Mediator between the two. And now he's disapeared. He's been acting a little strange-lost some of his housetraining, drinking lots of water, and meowing even louder than usual. I was thinking of dragging him to the vet if it didn't improve, but alas, he ran away before I had the chance. So...I've contacted the SPCA, the animal rescue, the pound, put up posters, and talked to people in the neighborhood, and, of course, walked around and drove around all over the area. (it's suburban) So what else can I do besides sitting and waiting? Is there anything else I can do? He's been gone for five days now...what can I do?:(

I can really only think of two other things besides what you have already done. Put a lost ad in the local newspaper. Also, contact any local veterinarians within 25 miles of your area. That way if someone brings in a stray they can contact you and let you know that your cat was found. I'll pray for you and your cat now. :prayer:

My cat came back :) I heard what sounded like him after a week and a half of him being gone, so I put out tuna and catnip, and he finally came home. He's happily sitting in front of the heater, and he's fine, although a little skinny.:)
Praise God! You might want to consider getting your pet microchipped. It's a simple procedure and they place basic information on a chip that goes just under the skin so that if your pet is ever lost, he can be reunited with you if a vet or someone with a chip scanner finds him. You should be able to find more information by doing a Google search.

If microchipping is not an option, you might want to seriously consider getting a name tag which would have your address and phone number on it. Of course, you could always go with both options as well. Both options would be good because anyone can read a little tag on the color but only a someone with a chip scanner can read the chip. From what I understand, most vets have chip scanners.
