I am not too much interested in pagan religions, but if you are interested in Jesus Christ, the focus of your family's faith, I would suggest a study of him from the Bible and elsewhere, as opposed to looking to see if the Holy Ghost is about giving people a feeling. Christ is at the center of the religion and his identity and his work are what defines it.

Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?”

Anthony, Jesus said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the light." You can read Jesus' words, clear statements of who He is and why He came to Earth in the New Testament, and decide whether you think He is speaking the truth or not. I wouldn't worry about the details of creation and chasing down the esoteric literature of the ancients. First, find out who Jesus is and what He says. Then you will have reason to make a choice between Him and the other alternatives.

Anthony, I see that you've replied and asked about Yahweh becoming known only in the eighth century BC. Yahweh identified himself by name to Moses some time earlier. The Hebrews had rejected God many times, and in the time of the prophets Isaiah and Elijah they were re-introducing the people to Yahweh, the only one able to overpower all the so-called "gods" of the Canaanites. This period of history was an interesting time; I'd love to pursue it further.

I would believe He was there with few chosen people do you mean He didn't come to the Jews as a whole until about 8 BC I wouldn't doubt He was with the few people who truly seeked God before 8 BC

If I remember correctly the book of Job predates the books of Moses and such

If so wouldn't this show God has always been here He just didn't reveal Himself to the world as a whole until about 8 BC? Even then didn't He mainly reveal to the Jews only until Christ

The NT speaks of some gentiles who believed in the true God before hearing of Christ

If you're looking into this to understand how this all fits in with God's plan, in an attempt to resolve mental obstacles and draw closer to Him, that's a good thing. But if you're fascinated with the dark side and want to go further into it, that's a very bad thing. Many have started down that road and then found it difficult to reverse direction. There is only one name given under heaven by which men can be saved, Christ Jesus

You probably can get some answers from the book of 1 Enoch. It generally isn't considered canonical to the Bible, but it has enough truth in it to have been cited in the Bible, and it helps make sense out of several otherwise obscure biblical verses. You can check out some of the work of Michael Heiser, who has studied this in depth. He has a lot of videos on youtube.

There is only one true God. He is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He is the I AM. And In the Beginning He IS. Nothing and NO man-made dogma nor demonized dogma predated the true God. And only through faith in Jesus Christ can we reconcile to the true God who created everything.

Now regarding these entities. You may want to read Eternal Life and Desperate for Help as well as Seducing Spirits by Win Worley. These are affordable booklets that you can purchase for as little 2 dollars on Kindle and I think you can find some pdf's for free.

Demons are fallen angels. They are not the same as the angels in the 2nd Heaven who still have their connection to God, their wings, and their privileges.

The whole reason the plagues of Egypt even occurred in the Old Testament was because the True God, YahWeh was JUDGING the false gods of Egypt. That's why you see things like the plague of darkness (to judge the false sun god Ra), or the plague of first born sons dead (to judge the false god of fertility), etc. YahWeh IS, was and always will Be. It is the fault of us humans who keep ignoring Him.

I can see that in what you first said: "My family all believe In Christianity." Most spiritually born again from above by the Holy Ghost (Spirit) would have said...'all believe in Christ' because of their personal relationship with Him.

You are exactly right! You understand that you have never been born again by the Holy Spirit, that you have never been regenerated or given the very life of God, His eternal life. Had you done so, you would KNOW by experience & by the testimony of the Holy Spirit indwelling in a believere that they are indeed a child of the living God. God is not the God of the dead but of the living!

You have learned some things ABOUT Christianity but you don't know the Christ of Christianity. That was me for many years, so I can relate! I did some of the things Christians do: go to church, pray sometimes, try to do good things & say that I believe Jesus was God and Savior & that He died for my sins.

But I didn't know Him. I only knew some things about Him.

I Cor 12:2,3 You know that when you were unbelievers, every time you were led to worship false gods you were worshiping idols who couldn't even speak. Therefore I inform you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.

The Bible also explains it this way in the book of Romans in the New Tesatament.

Romans 8:5-11 Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh; but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. 6The mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life & peace, 7because the mind of the flesh is hostile to God. It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8Those controlled by the flesh cannot please God.

9You, however, are controlled not by the flesh, but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God LIVES IN YOU. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. 10But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet the Spirit gives you lifec because of righteousness. 11And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you.

The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 11For who among men knows the thoughts of man except his own spirit within him? So too, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12We have not received the SPIRIT OF THE WORLD, but THE SPIRIT WHO IS FROM GOD, so that we may UNDERSTAND what God has freely given us. 13And this is what we speak, NOT in words taught us by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.

14The natural man does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God. For they are foolishness to him & he cannot understand them, because they are SPIRITUALLY DISCERNED.

Although I had read through the whole Bible, I still couldn't figure out why I didn't know God like other spiritually born Christians did. I got into a Bible study & watched very closely the life of one of the Christians who led it. He had a living relationship with the living God! I truly wanted that! So I asked him how he came into a living relationship with Jesus by the Holy Spirit. He simply pointed out some things.

1) John 8:31,32 “If you continue in My word, then you are truly My disciples. 32And then you will know the truth & then the truth will set you free.”

The way to get to know the Lord is to read what He said & taught & I was doing that by studying the Bible, especially the first 4 books of the New Testament, the Gospels.

In the book of Acts 8:26-39, we see this very thing put before us.

Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Get up & go south to the desert road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” 27So he started out, & on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch, a court official in charge of the entire treasury of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians. He had gone to Jerusalem to worship, 28and on his return was sitting in his chariot, reading Isaiah the prophet. (in the Old Testament, first part of the Bible)

29The Spirit said to Philip, “Go over to that chariot & stay by it.” 30So Philip ran up & heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked. 31“How can I,” he said, “unless someone guides me?” And he invited Philip to come up & sit with him. 32The eunuch was reading this passage of Scripture: “He was led like a sheep to the slaughter & as a lamb before the shearer is silent, so He did not open His mouth.33In His humiliation He was deprived of justice. 2) The second thing he told me was that he came to a point in his life where he needed to take action on what he had been learning. He had been going his own way, leading his own life on whatever he thought was right but his sins had brought a separation between he & God.

Isaiah 59:1,2 Behold, the LORD’S hand is not so short that it cannot save; nor is His ear so dull that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have made a separation between you & your God & your sins have hidden His face FROM YOU so that He does not hear...They do not know the way of peace...We hope for light, but behold, darkness, for brightness, but we walk in gloom... transgressing & denying the LORD & turning away from our God...

Now he came to a crossroads: was he going to repent, which means change his mind & life direction & turn around & trust in Jesus Christ to forgive Him of His sins, calling out to Him in prayer & in faith & confessing Him as Lord & Savior. Instead of walking his own way, He told the Lord He would now follow Him as His disciple & continue in His Word & be obedient to what He commanded. Amen. A simple prayer that was a sincere cry of his heart. And Jesus heard him & made him alive spiritually by the Holy Spirit.

Now I had come to a crossroads. Here was what I had missed. It was not simply knowing things about Jesus that made the difference but praying to Him & crying out to him in humility & sincerity of faith, confessing my sins & my now turning to Christ to save me. I needed a Savior. I could see that now. I was separated from Him. I needed my sins forgiven and only through Christ could that happen. I wanted a personal relationship with Him like my Bible study leader. I had gotten down on my knees at my bed before going to sleep & cried out to Jesus to save me & I would follow Him from now on. There was no flash of light or angels flying around--but when I woke up that morning--I KNEW JESUS. HIS PRESENCE WAS REAL & HE WAS THERE WITH ME & IN ME. I prayed & said, "So this is you God. You are real. You are right HERE. I now know you & am experiencing your Presence with me.

I have never been the same since & His living Presence is even more real today after 48 years of walking with Him & being led by the Holy Spirit. The Bible suddenly made sense because the Holy Spirit gave me spiritual discernment, bringing illumination & revelation to me. And oh the joy of knowing Him & oh the thankfulness for saving me by His amazing grace. It humbles me to realize how much Jesus loved me, even though I had rejected him for many years.

So to help you on your journey, here are some answers to your questions.

1) Where was Yahweh (YHWH--Hebrew tetragrammaton) throughout the old religions?

He has always existed--before any of the old religions. YaHWeH is God's memorial name that He wants us to hallow or honor Him by & it means: 'I AM (the eternally) Existing (One).' This is what He said to Moses in Exodus 3:13-15, when Moses asked Him who he should say sent him to lead the nation of Israel out of Egypt.

And when they ask me, ‘What is His name?’ What should I tell them?” God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”

Genesis 21:33 And Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba & there he called upon the name of YaHWeH, the Eternal God.

Psalm 93:1,2 YaHWeH reigns! He is robed in majesty...Your throne was established long ago; You are from all eternity.

Habakkuk 1:12 Are You not from everlasting, O YaHWeH, my God, my Holy One?

Have you read what Jesus said to the Pharisees & religious leaders when they asked Jesus who He really was claiming to be? Here is His answer:

John 8:53ff Are You greater than our father Abraham? He died, as did the prophets. Who do You claim to be?” ...Your father Abraham was overjoyed to see My day. He saw it & was glad.” Then the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old & YOU HAVE SEEN ABRAHAM?" “Truly, truly, I tell you,” Jesus declared, “before Abraham was born (existed), I AM!” [Greek ego eimi--"I am (the) existing (One)."] At this, they picked up stones to throw at Him.

Jesus is YaHWeH!

You will notice an amazing thing in the Bible. When it is demonstrating His power, His omnipotence, He will often use the name El or Elohim. The whole first chapter of Genesis 1 uses Elohim. But when God focuses on His personal relationship WITH His creation in Ch. 2, especially in creating Adam & Eve, the first people on earth: suddenly God introduces Himself as YaHWeH for the first time in the Bible!

Genesis 2:4,7 This is the account of the heavens & the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God (YaHWeH Elohim) made them. Then YaHWeH Elohim formed man from the dust of the ground & breathed into his nostrils the breath of LIFE & the man became a LIVING being.

Other old religions worshipped many gods! However, YaHWeH is the only one true God. There is only one God by nature & that is YaHWeH. Some older religions worshipped YaHWeH along with other false gods. That is why the God of the Bible is different than other religions.

Jeremiah 10:10 But YaHWeH is the true God; He is the living God & the eternal King.

Exodus 20:3-5 You shall have no other gods besides (before) Me. 4You shall not make for yourself an idol of any kind, or an image of anything in the heavens above, on the earth beneath, or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them...

Isaiah 43:1ff Now this is what the LORD says—He who created you, O Jacob & He who formed you, O Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine! Deut 32:17,18 They sacrificed to demons, not to God, to gods they had not known, to newly arrived gods, which your fathers did not fear. You ignored the Rock who brought you forth; you forgot the God who gave you birth.

I Cor 8:4-7 So about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that an idol is nothing at all in the world & that there is no God but one. 5For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as there are many so-called gods & lords), 6yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came & for whom we exist. And there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came & through whom we exist. 7But not everyone has this knowledge.

I Corinthians 10:19-22 Am I suggesting, then, that food sacrificed to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything? No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God. And I do not want you to be participants with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord & the cup of demons too; you cannot partake in the table of the Lord & the table of demons too. Are we trying to provoke the Lord to jealousy?

Question#2: Are demons & angels the same type of entities?

I have started to address this question above. There are unclean spirits that are demons that rebelled against God & there are clean spirits, that are angels that follow God. God created all angels & angelic spirits. Then Lucifer, Satan, the old adversary & the serpent


Revelation 12:3,7-9 Then another sign appeared in heaven: a huge red dragon with seven heads, ten horns & seven royal crowns on his heads. His tail swept a third of the stars from the sky, tossing them to the earth...Then a war broke out in heaven: Michael & his angels fought against the dragon & the dragon & his angels fought back. But the dragon was not strong enough & no longer was any place found in heaven for him & his angels.The great dragon was hurled down--that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world ASTRAY. He was hurled to the earth & his angels (demons, unclean spirits) with him.

2 Cor 11:3 I am afraid, however, that just as Eve was DECEIVED by the serpent's cunning, your minds may be led ASTRAY FROM your simple & pure devotion to Christ.

Sigils are symbols that can be used to promote spiritual conjurings or seances to manifest demons--not angels that serve God. They are a part of magic & witchcraft. So no, good angels that serve God don't have sigils or symbols that we can use to manifest their power & supposedly bid them to do what we want.

We are commanded NOT to conjure demons up nor try to communicate with them nor practice witchcraft or magical arts. Those that chose to repent of these things & turned to Christ to save them, demonstrated that by burning all their books and magical arts in a big bonfire in Ephesus, leaving it all behind to follow Christ.

Acts 19:13-20 Now there were some itinerant Jewish exorcists who tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those with evil spirits. They would say, “I bind you by Jesus, whom Paul proclaims.” 14Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. 15Eventually, one of the evil spirits answered them, “Jesus I know & I know about Paul, but you, who are you?” 16Then the man with the evil spirit jumped on them & overpowered them all. The attack was so violent that they ran out of the house naked & wounded.

17This became known to all the Jews & Greeks living in Ephesus & fear came over all of them. So the name of the Lord Jesus was held in high honor. 18Many who had believed now came forward, confessing & disclosing their deeds. 19And a number of those who had practiced magic arts brought their books & burned them in front of everyone. When the value of the books was calculated, it came to fifty thousand drachmas (silver coins, today several million dollars). 20So the word of the Lord powerfully continued to spread & prevail.

The worship & seeking of supernatural powers other than God prevent people from finding holy spirituality in God alone.

I Sam 15:22,23 And Samuel said, Has YaHWeH as great a delight in burnt offerings & sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of YaHWeH? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice & to hearken than the fat of rams.

They are called unclean spirits for a reason!

2 Chronicles 33:2,6 (Manassah) did evil in the sight of YaHWeH by following the ABOMINATIONS OF THE NATIONS that YaHWeH had driven out before the Israelites. He sacrificed his sons in the fire in the Valley of Hinnom (symbolic for describing Gehenna, the eternal hell, the lake of fire). He practiced sorcery, divination & witchcraft & consulted mediums & spiritists. He did GREAT EVIL in the sight of YaHWeH, provoking Him to anger.

Yet we do have good angels from God that God has sent to guard us in life, especially from the powers of darkness, the evil or unclean spirits who will try & deceive us & lead us astray from simple & pure devotion to Christ. Good angels will point us back to God, to worship Him, if we try to worship or seek them. They serve the living God & point us back to Him & fight a spiritual battle AGAINST demons in the heavenly invisible spheres.

All good angels follow, serve & worship Christ; all evil or unclean angels follow, serve & worship Satan.

Hebrews 1:6,7,1 And again, when God brings His firstborn into the world, He says:“Let all God’s angels worship Him.” Now about the angels He says: “He makes His angels winds & His servants flames of fire. Are not the angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?

Mark 1:13 (Jesus) was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals & the angels were serving him.

Daniel 7:10 A river of fire flowed out from before him. Thousands upon thousands (of angels) were serving him, with millions upon millions waiting before him. The court sat in judgment & record books were unsealed.

Revelation 5:11,12 Then I looked & I heard the voices of many angels & living creatures & elders encircling the throne & their number was myriads of myriads & thousands of thousands. In a loud voice they said: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power & riches & wisdom & strength & honor & glory & blessing!”

Revelation 19:10 Then I fell down at his (the angel's) feet to worship him, but he said, "No, don't worship me. I am a servant of God, just like you & your brothers & sisters who testify about their faith in Jesus. Worship only God. For the essence of prophecy is to give a clear witness for Jesus."

Acts 14:8-18 In Lystra sat a man crippled in his feet, who was lame from birth and had never walked. 9This man was listening to the words of Paul, who looked intently at him and saw that he had faith to be healed. 10In a loud voice Paul called out, “Stand up on your feet!” And the man jumped up and began to walk.

Question#4: What is the best way to make a connection with Yahweh?

Through Jesus, through the Holy Spirit as you read God's Word the Bible The Bible is YaHWeh's revelation to mankind, so we might know Him & how to have a relationship with Him, through the Savior of the world, the Lord Jesus Christ.

John 14:6,7,15-17,23,24 Jesus answered, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. 7If you had known Me, you would know My Father as well. From now on you do know Him & have seen Him.” If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. 16And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate to be with you forever— 17the Spirit of truth. The world cannot receive Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you do know Him, for He abides with you and will be in you. Jesus replied, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word. Question#5: If I was to attempt to make contact with one of these entities, would I be eternally damned in the Christian religion? Thanks for any and all help.

I have shown you above what can happen if you try and communicate with 'entities' that are evil, unclean spirits. There is a clear danger there that you might even get possessed by them & that danger could lead to being cast into the lake of fire with them. And good angels will just point you back to worshiping God.

Welcome to the forums. I don’t have much to add to what others have said I. Answer to your questions, but I hope you will stick around here and explore Christianity in more depth to get a better understanding.

Even if the old pagan gods were extraterrestrial visitors (and I am not convinced about that), I would say that God does not appear with them because He is not one of them. He is the Creator, Himself uncreated, and (if they exist) is the creator of all of those pagan gods.

Hi my name is Anthony, I grew up in a small town and have a Christian background. My family all believe In Christianity and although growing up in the Christian faith I have never had a real connection with the Holy Ghost I guess you could say. Meaning I have never felt a divine presence that I know of and it’s not like I haven’t put an effort into making a connection over the years it just hasn’t happened yet. So after graduating high school I spent a few years in college where I spent more time reading and studying on world religions more then I did my actual major. The most intriguing piece of our(humans) history I came across is the Sumerians and their religion. As you probably know the Sumerians is the oldest civilization we know about and their religion is very unique to say the least. They have a creation story just like Christians have their creation story but it’s pretty different. Sumerians believe they was created by extra terrestrial beings purely just to be used as workers to mine the earth. These beings are known as the Anunnaki and they walked among men. As so the story is told the original plan of these Anunnaki was to destroy the human race they made after the mining of the planet was finished, but that never happened because they became close to the humans and developed personal relationships with us. After the work was done they left us on this planet, not saying this is right or wrong I’m just giving you the story in a nutshell as there is much more to it. So now let’s fast forward a little bit and these ‘gods’ known as the Anunnaki to the Sumerians appear in several different religions under different names. One of the most popular is the Egyptians. Yes the Egyptian gods are believed to be the same entities as the Sumerians Anunnaki. So where are these ‘gods’ at now that predate Christianity? Well you don’t have to look very far as they play a very prevalent role in the Christian religion. If you do some digging around you will find out that they are labeled the demons that much of us fear. So that’s where I’m at now, stuck here with unanswered questions so I decided to come here and see if I could get any clear answers. Here is a short list of questions I hope to get help with;

for #2, #3, and #5 no fundamentally they are different beings but demons have the ability to pretend to be angels to deceive people involved in "light magic" because light magic is practically using the same source of power as dark magic which means DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH THIS AT ALL COST but truth is if you do get involved it's not going to be pretty it's just as enticing and just as damaging if not more than the sin that I'm caught in that I need to haul ass from forgive me for my language

I too had questions like this and only last year I was crazy on UFOs, Aliens, past history, spiritual beings. (I just put a post up yesterday explaining how I got into it and all new age stuff like this)
I believed that something big was being kept from all humanity. I was wrong about what was being hidden, cause I know now it's JESUS that is being hidden. I truly thought it was all real. But the more and more I go into learning about these things, the less I felt apart of humanity. Learning about all this stuff kept me away from God and Jesus. I think now that what ever was going on with the world before Jesus came was so bad and broken, God had no choice but to send Jesus cause people got into believing all weird stuff like this, when it's just a big massive manipulation. I see now, how that what ever came before the coming of Christ, wasn't very good or Christ wouldn't of needed to come! I regret getting deep into questioning the creation. Looking back I feel like Eve and I was eating from the tree of Knowledge of good and evil.
Thankfully after praying to the lord, he moved my soul to showed me how I was learning lots of lies that was feeding my brain information, and it felt very positive learning about it, but it was keeping me from gods grace. I feel so lucky and thankful now to be out of all that. I just wanted to know what was real and what wasn't, but really I don't think it is for us to know. I've been saved now and know I never found any peace or answers having looking into these topics for years of my life. The Bible talks all about it, and I'm glad there's quote here for you to see how the Lord saw all this and foretold us in the book!
