HELP! System keeps shutting down!

HELP PLEASE!!!




I keep getting a System Shutdown alert and it gives me 1 minute to save and close everything before my whole PC shuts down. This has happened 4 times today. I can barely stay on 5 minutes. I have yet to be able to reply to anything on CF so if this goes through PTL!

The error message reads something like

System Shutdown initiated by NT Authority System

RPC ( Remote Procedure Call ) Service terminated unexpectantly.

Anyone familiar with this, I am using windows NT I believe. Can anyone help?

Then check for trojans and stuff

I would run a virus scan. Also, did you recently download and kind of software? If so, it could be interferring. Hope you get it all worked out.

Are you on a network or is this a PC at home? Check for a virus too. Are you on a UPC?

Had the same virus today. I disonnected the modem for a few minutes and applied the patch. Seems to work fine now.

man, i thought i was losing my mind! i'm having the same problme! is anyone else having trouble clicking on the links posted inside a post? i mean, they won't open but i can navigate from page to page but not on any links.

Make sure you install the patch BEFORE disinfecting your system. If you don't you will keep having the same problems.

man, i thought i was losing my mind! i'm having the same problme! is anyone else having trouble clicking on the links posted inside a post? i mean, they won't open but i can navigate from page to page but not on any links.

This is the problem that I'm having. I have all patches/updates installed and have run the symantec fix to remove the worm, but hyperlinks still are not working correctly for me. Anyone have any idea what is up with the link problem???

Figured it out!! Yay.
For those with link problems. After you have downloaded all updates and patches and made sure your system is clear of the worm, reboot and then click start > run and type in regsvr32 urlmon.dll

This clears up the hyperlink problem. Everything seems to be running fine now.

i had exactly the same problem, i wanted to come here and seek advice about it, but of course, i couldn't get online long enough to do anything.... ...any how, seems like i have been able to resolve things, for now...
