  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Not very much. I need the info and statistics before I finish my anti-hentai webpage.
However I did make an advertisement (to be posted on others' websites) and I have sent out my first round of e-mails.
I am also encouraging a friend of mine who is an anime artist to copyright her characters and artwork so she would have a legal leg to stand on if someone made hentai using her art.

OK, this is the e-mail: I am sending it to anime fans to get their signatures and comments. I hope to get 1 million otaku who hate hentai to sign on to it, hehe. -^.^- Then I will forward the e-mail to the US Congress and to its equivalent legislative body in Japan for a dual-pronged attack against hentai.

the e-mail:

"I hope this will be the first of a million or more anti-hentai e-mails that will be sent, once the one-million mark is reached, to the Congress of the United States and to its equivalent legislative body in Japan.

Hentai, and its variants yaoi, yuri, and ecchi, are scourges on our cultures and on our common interest. It is violently pornographic, often involving the rape and abuse of women and children, among other sick and perverted acts.

As if that were not bad enough, much hentai (the operative term I will use to describe hentai, yaoi, yuri, and ecchi) is made with copied and redrawn characters from normal anime. Sometimes this is done with the original artist and author's knowledge and consent: most of the time it is not. Internet hentai is a business fueled by plagarism-outright theft of another's intellectual property.

Hentai is incredibly easy for anyone old enough to use the Internet or walk into a video store to find. The sites that ask for passwords or credit card numbers can easily be entered by entering random numbers or passwords, or borrowing that of someone else in the home. Video stores rarely check ID-in a recent case in America, a 12 year old boy was able to buy several hentai videos from a none-too-savvy clerk. The only good of the situation was that the boy was participating in a hidden camera investigation for a local TV station, and did not view his illegal purchases.

Hentai inspires crime. The rates of child abduction and molestation, rape, and murder have been steadily increasing in both American and Japanese society. In far too many of these cases (most notably the kidnapping and murder of Danielle Van Dam) the accused killer/rapist/kidnapper was a fan and collector of hentai.

This is a request for a comprehensive law restricting the production and availability of hentai.

Such a law would involve at least these points:

1: Existing theft of intellectual property (plagarism) laws should be strengthened to quadruple the penalty for anyone who redraws or rewrites a work without the author's and/or artist's permission.

2: Hentai itself should be put under the same restrictions that live-action porn is: no images of children or childlike creatures.

3: "Spam" from hentai sites should be restricted to a by-request basis.

4: Hentai sites must clearly identify themselves, and institute stricter identification technology.

5: Selling or marketing hentai to anyone under the age of 18 should be a crime.

I'm Susan, 18 years old, a student and amateur writer from El Cajon, California. I am also the head of my own anti-hentai organization, called "Take Out The Trash."
The reasons I don't like hentai are exactly those I listed at the beginning of this e-mail. Also, it is against my faith and intellectually insulting.
The increase in tragedies related to hentai, as well as the prospect of having my own writing stolen someday, has made me want an anti-hentai law.
How many more must cry
How many more must die
Because of hentai?

(every time this reaches 10 people please forward it back to me at -my e-mail address-)"

So far my plans are to educate the general public as to what hentai is and why it is not good, to rally anime fans to fight something that is destroying our subculture and the culture at large, and to request stricter regulation of or a total ban on hentai.

Also I want to get counselors to participate in an anonymous e-mail counseling service for hentai addicts who see that they have a problem.

I'm writing the webpage, hopefully along with the person who is giving me the webspace to post it. . .and I need ANY anti-porn and SPECIFICALLY any anti-hentai/yaoi/yuri/ecchi material you can find, because I want to take a more pragmatic approach than the other anti-hentai sites, most of which rely on personal disgust with hentai rather than any real proof. . .:sigh:

Hentai is disgusting. It is clearly violent and destructive, and I think that it should be banned. For everyone. Thank you for informing us about it (for those that did not know) As for pornography I think that it is a violation of someone 's body, and a disgrace. I would sign a petition in the blink of an eye. Count me in.

Wow. That's...a big plan. No offense, but it sounds a little "pie-in-the-sky" to me. Do you have experience in HTML? Are you sure you have the man/womanpower to do all that? Will it be all volunteer work? As far as a counseling service, what kind of qualifications do the counselors need? If the counselors are everyday people without formal training, you must have a disclaimer saying that the counselling is not to be replaced by professional therapy. I would discourage using people without training because they are not familiar with the proper ethics (i.e., confidentiality), and effective counselling requires training. Proving your qualifications might be difficult, unless, perhaps, you scan your degree. I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that. I'm not sure if setting up an email counselling service is legal, either.

You probably know this, but if you're looking for anti-hentai information and you find it, and then use it, you must properly reference it. Otherwise, it is considered PLAGIARISM.

Yes, I know.

The counseling idea is still in the beginning stages. I will probably give it up completely. . .I just felt that I should do my best to provide something for anonymously helping those who want to escape hentai. BTW do you know a website I could direct people to?
I am using a WYSIWYG editor so I don't need to know much HTML code.
I know the plagarism laws. :)

I hope whoever finishes this project, be it me or whoever else, can do something to stop hentai or at least reduce the amount of it. . .

I don't know if we'll be able to stop that. We can't stop people from doing that. Even if it was illegal or something (which I'm sure it will never be) people will still find a way. Like drugs and alcohol. It's extremely pathetic, but people will do that.

It's best just to stay out of it's way. I've got a setting on my computer of 0, meaning at most, only sites that are recorded as safe by me are allowed. I set it so that the only sites I could visit are this, my email, ldstalk.com and carm.org. I made this really long number password and threw it out. So I'm stuck here. :p :)

Awesome intentions, but people make choices everyday. And there's nothing we can do to stop it. I don't know if we should seeing as what they do with their i access is not my business. TTYL Jesus loves you!

Not when it's someone else's stolen and disgustingly redrawn intellectual property. ;)

And many times, it is NOT someone's choice whether or not they want to view it. The first hentai spam I got had the address of my return-mailer forged to it. I opened it thinking an e-mail I had sent had been returned. Instead it was things too nauseating to mention here.

I'm a fan of normal anime and RPGs, but not of hentai/yaoi/yuri/ecchi/whatever your operative term is. Nevertheless, you run into it unless you totally isolate yourself. Like I once did a search for "Anime And RPG Avatars" in Google. I was using "Moderate Safe Search." 5 hentai or yaoi sites came up on the first page.

And if you are a frequent participator in even normal anime and/or RPG newsgroups, chats, or MBs (I'm not at least until I can get a good anti-spam program), you will encounter hentai either as spam or in the form of hentai fans "hot-chatting." It goes on everywhere and it is absolutely sickening.

We would not let that happen offline. If it did, most of us would be calling the police as soon as possible and insisting that those people be arrested.
