Help Shut Down Unhumane Animal Shelters!

hi everyone my name is jaimie and my dog is missing i live in colorado springs and today i went to this so called humane shelter for animals and let me tell you nothing is humane about it there killing 1000's of animals a year healthy animals we need to stop it if you live in colorodo or anywhere else please stand up to these nazi's and save 1000's of animals a year now i dont want you posting a bunch of garbage on how its ok to kill animals i need true chrsitains to stop these unhumane shelters these animals can get a home but instead they give the animal 5 days to live poor animals these animals deserve a home and we need to shut down these places once and for all i used to take care of dogs and cats for many years and what there doing is wrong please help stop these people once and for all.if you want to stand up against abortion you should be standing up for animals too. yes, it is sad. the problem needs a realistic solution, which may be the hard part. Our cats came from the animal shelter (same kind, they kill them fast). It would be nice in fantasy if they could just run free and wild, but that doesn't seem realistic, with diseases and wild animal attacks...

do you have some solutions you support? just wondering

(I don't live in this region, but I thought I'd post to share, I hope that's okay)

well it seems like we havent found my dog so that sucks!!! i hate them everyone one of those people at the unhumane shelters i hope they burn in hell for stelling dogs out of peoples yards and killing them there just a bunch of freakin Nazi's i hate them!!!!!!! help shut down there donations please help any ways you can

I'm sorry about your dog, did you find him?

I live in the Springs as well but have never had experience with the humane society here. I don't want to debate shelters but I do feel the problem is with the public and the casual attitudes people have towards their pets. We need more public education on animal behavior, proper training, spay/neuter, and the responsibility and commitment for the full life span of the pet. I would love to see long waiting lists for adoption at shelters in the future because pet owners became more responsible and fewer animals were turned over.

Yeah thanks for that i agree people have to be responsible its not the animals falut its only the peoples falut for not taking any responsiblity.

Why do you not anymore? If you are not currently doing your part, do you have any right to ask others to do theirs?

Only problem: Animals are not people. God breathed into MAN'S nostrils to give him life. Not so for the cute little kitties and puppies.

God made PEOPLE in his image. Not so with any animal. Not even chimpanzees.

Abortion kills PEOPLE. Not animals. Animal shelters humanely kill the thousands of animals you can not afford to adopt. They do not kill people.

Animals and people. Big difference.

Neither you nor I are irresponsible; but no one can (or should) just go and adopt all the animals from the shelter.

I understand your emotional plea about the "killing" of shelter animals but the real fact lies in education of spay/neuter clinics. They're available. Every county in Colorado has vet services several times a year where we give of our time to reach out to families with pets in need of services to stop the breeding process. It needs to start there. If you think you see something going on inhumanely at a shelter call your local police dept. That's all you have to do. Anon.

I just want to throw my 2cents out there. I'm so sorry about your dog. I'm a huge animal lover and have lost several pets over the years, including dogs. So I know what your loss feels like.

Think about this though... in other countries they do not put animals to sleep. They don't have the resources to do this and therefore countless animals run the streets starving to death, hit by cars, abused by stupid kids, and breeding more homeless animals who just end up suffering. As hard as it is for me to think about putting animals to sleep I would rather that than having kids throw rocks at them or drown them. That happens in the United States too. So it is the more humane thing to do when it comes down to it. They can't keep all those animals.

Now, personally, if I find an animal I'm going to try to find a no-kill shelter (if I can't keep it myself that is!) because I can't stand the idea of them being put down. But I would rather than than have them suffer.
