Heron actually pointed this out in a post once... we are to weigh what our parents say, but by no means accept what they say as gospel truth. Believe me, parents can go in all sorts of odd directions.

Some can get "controlling", they mean well, of course, but it can often be to very bad result -- zeal apart from knowledge.

Sometimes this can mean just distancing yourself, keeping your thoughts to yourself, and so on.

Congratulations on your baby -- sorry to get all carried away with theories, forgetting to wish you well! "My mom doesnt believe I can properly hear from God." (Quotes don't work right now.) She might have been taught that by other Christians -- some churches teach that. Or that might be her way of venting. I hope all goes well over the coming months. Get as much sleep as you can!

If her prophecies are notoriously wrong, then don't worry about it. Don't get side-tracked on mysticism, if you are trying to work with the father of your son, continue to do so. Keep your eyes on God.

when in doubt about a spiritual vision or message, ask God to help you. Not all dreams, visions, and messages are from God..
When in doubt about a vision, take Gods advice & TEST THE SPIRITS..
God says if you remain in Him, His word will remain in you.. It's important to stay in His word (the Bible) cause His word tells you everything you need to know about the Lord & His character.. The Bible is the Word of God and the Word of God is absolute knowledge and truth of all things..

If in doubt, ask the Holy Spirit, who knows your concerns to guide you in your study and as you let the Spirit teach you, test every detail of your vision with the scripture.. God says that all that is good & holy comes from Him and anything that is from Him will align with His Word in perfect harmony..

In my first reply I recommended that you test the spirits and left it at that cause to be honest, when I read your concern I really just kindof skimmed through it but after I posted I went back and actually read it and I wanna give you some decent advice so I pulled up some info on the topic online to get a list of passages that speak on it...

If your moms gift was truly a gift from God;
Her visions will be accurate (See Deut. 18:22)
Her visions will align with the will of God (see Jer 23:21-22, Jer 26:4-6, Jer 35:15, & Isa 8:20)
A true prophet of God is a CHILD OF GOD; someone who abides in Christ.. Is your mom a saved Christian who is saved by grace? You know a child of God by their fruits (see Matt 7:15-21)

MOST IMPORTANT YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS.. The prophecies of false prophets do NOT always fail (see Deut. 13:1-5)

Ask for God's guidance by the Holy Spirit.. If you have repented & received Christs gift of salvation, you are promised the Holy Spirit.. Dont hesitate to let the Spirit do its work, the Holy Spirit is an amazing gift.. Christ called the Holy Spirit a "helper" ..

Rely on the Spirit to help you understand and guide you.. and let the Spirit give you the answers and the words so you can reach out to your mom..

We all need to learn to let the Spirit do what it desires to do through us.. and reaching out to people we love can be difficult, I need to let the Spirit give me the courage to reach out to the people I love to..

All I can say to you and every Christian (and also reminding myself) is that the only way we will ever gain understanding of truth and knowledge is if we let the Spirit take over.. The Spirit cant give answers to someone who relies on their own wisdom..
