for some reason every time i go to save a picture file now it is only giving the option to save as untitled.bmp ... it used to always let me save as whatever the file format was like if it was a gif i could save the gif; and i could also save a picture with its actual file name instead of "untitled" ... any ideas on what needs changing to fix this? thanks!

This is an old problem I ran into a long time ago and drove me crazy until I found the Microsoft Knowledgebase article on it (I'll look it up later and edit this post if I find it). I believe your Internet Explorer browser cache is full. Empty it and the world will be a wonderful and happy place.

OK, I found it, here's a link to the Microsoft Knowledgebase article:

Oh yes, ariella...I should have said in my reply...Internet Explorer can be a real pain...I switched to Firefox a while ago and except for the occassional Web site that gives me grief under Firefox (and I've only seen a handful of those...like Student Loan or Credit Card or Microsoft sites) I never use IE anymore. I was just telling you the answer to your problem from my past experience with IE. I no longer encounter that problem. Thanks to the other CF folks who corrected my oversight.
