Soj, I took the numbered words and applied Strong's definitions, one by one, with slashes to offer the contextual options. I did this for myself a couple years ago, and saved it. The wording seemed beautifully poetic, and refreshed my view of the passage (especially after so many debates over what was there...I just wanted to see for myself.)

Some phrasing is awkward, as it would be with any language, such as "himself" taking up two or three words....tenses unclear...prepositions missing...I am not an ancient Hebrew scholar. But I do believe that we should all use whatever tools we can to get the most accurate message.

Yes, God always leads us onward. If you ever try to learn about him then just say a prayer asking for guidense through your readings so that way, the things he wants you to learn, will be claear and you will learn them.
I haven't been a Christian for very long but I know one thing: My life HAS changed. And for the better too. I only hope that things become clear to you Sreet Vison. And that you will have a easyier time in your days. And maybe if it be Gods will. You learn to trust him and believe him.
I think that your liking for reading the Bible is God pulling and tugging on your heart trying to turn you to him. He is trying so hard that I think, you have a VERY, VERY, wonderful thing that your going to carry out. Something so wonderful, and something that you will end up doing God or not. That he wants you to come to him so that way you have someone to lean on during that time.
You have such a great purpose in life, you just need to look hard. and stay brave. Buckle on the armor of God, take up his sword. And fight againest all of your trails, temptations, and enemys. Using Gods help. Remember: You can do ALL things through Christ which strengens you.

Hey, i am not a christian, i dont know why but i am intrested in the bible, and every now and them i seem to be drawn to it for some unkown reason

But last night i was thinking, there is all this fighting between creation and evolution, but what if i said both were right?

if you read a bit of Genesis it said

Genesis 1:20 And God said, "Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky."

if we dont take this to literaly, isnt the oldest form of living life that we know of came from the sea, so i dont think if there is a god he puts birds on this earth as they are now, but he laid the foundation for them to evolve into what they are now the same as the fish in the sea,

im agnostic, i cannot fully believe that there is a god, but i seem to like religion for some unknown reason, im 16 btw so i dont know, can u shed any light on this?
Read the WHOLE bible cover to cover. I'm not even kidding. You can see all the good things and bad things there, and decide what you want to believe. If you decide being a Christian is what you want to do, that's cool:) Just take the time to think about it all.

Hi Streetvision

There have been so many good comments here. Thought I would answer from a different angle, something that I posted on another site, but seems to apply here.

Your question reminded me of myself about 35 years ago. Thought you might want to hear about it.

:( "I was raised in a liberal "Christian" church that taught there were mistakes in the Bible. I swallowed it whole, never asking them to show me the mistakes so I could check them out for myself. Instead, I became an atheist for about 12 years. Then I made the mistake of playing the Ouija Board, and became demon oppressed. I quickly realized the reality of the supernatural world. More than that, I would pray when the strange things would happen, and they would immediately stop for a time. That proved to me that there had to be a good supernatural being who had dominance over the evil.

 As I was terrified, I started searching various religions to see where the truth was. The puzzle pieces finally fell into place when I read The Late Great Planet Earth, a book on Christian Evidences about Biblical prophecy. It showed that past prophecies had been fulfilled 100% of the time, and convinced me there had to be a God guiding the writing of the Bible. There was a Gospel invitation in the book, and I accepted Christ as my sinbearer at that point.

I have been saved for 33 years now and it just gets better with time. The God of the Bible has never, ever let me down.

I have come to realize that Christianity is a relationship, not a religion. It is unique - we do not obtain Heaven by our own good works. Salvation is based on Christ's goodness, not our own. We receive eternal life when we make the decision to trust in Christ alone to pay for all our sins on the cross, (past present and future), and trust in Him to take us to Heaven one day, without any good works of our own. (Rom. 3:23, Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8-9, I Peter 3:18, and John 3:16). The Bible says also that we cannot lose our salvation (see "gift" in Romans 6:23 and Romans 11:29 and also John 10:28-29 - we can't even take ourselves out of God's hand). I hope that you will make that decision. "

You said, StreetVision, that you feel drawn to the Bible - in the Bible it says that the true God draws all people to Himself, and that the Holy Spirit convicts them of sin, righteousness, and judgment (in other words, of the need for a Savior).

 As far as the creation/evolution/theistic evolution debates, it helps me personally to interpret the Bible this way: I take everything literally, unless it's impossible to do so (there are some figures of speech, such as when the Bible says the mountains were dancing for joy). By interpreting the Bible this way, I find it's never let me down. The Bible itself says it is without error.

For further study (other than the Scriptures themselves): Studies on God are in the bookstores under Christian theology or Apologetics (not apologies, but things like cosmology). Studies from external proofs (such as archaeology) on the inerrancy of the Scriptures are found under Christian Evidences. A couple of websites are: rbc.org and probe.org

May God bless you in your search, Streetvision - sounds like you're off to a good start. As you ask God for guidance, He'll show you the way. I'm praying for you.

Aloha in Christ

Good job bethdinsmore I couldn't of said it better myself, probably because I am new to being a Christian, but I also noticed that when I pray when I'm afraid or worried it does leave very fast.

I may of not been a Christain for very long but I know quite a lot about the Bible. probably because my pastor is a very good pastor, and I thank God for him very much. I go to a Babtist Missonary Church. And I am worried for the lost which includ: My older brother, my best friend, my grandpa, a lot of my coisons, a lot of my aunts and uncles, but luckly the family that lives with me is saved.

I am glad I am a Christian now because, when I think about being a Christian in Armagetion (didn't spell it right, sorry I have somewhat bad spelling) and think about all the pain and suffering in that time, I just do notwant to have to go through any of it. And plus I was lost and my entire life was falling apart, a couple times I thought about killing myself but something held me back. Now I know that Jesus who was holding me back from killing myself and making spend enterny in hell. I have a great purpose I just don't know it yet...and SreetVison....you have a GREAT purpose aswell.

you know, of all the American athiests i've seen on CF, i have yet to find a republican.....coincidence......I don't know;)!

I have struggled with this myself, but i know, God, so maybe it is easier for me.....maybe you should get to know Jesus.....he'll lead you to God, and then maybe it will be easier for you, too!

In school, they like to teach you about evolution as a fact! i can hardly bare it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wrote a poem, i don't know if it will help, but most people think it's funny and informative!!!

Oh, and to Cian: Lol, i think one of the main points of Creationism is that science ISN'T involoved....so, what's your point?

Deranged Sanity
By Missionette

“Science is the answer”,
Says my 8th grade teacher,
Naming all the theories,
Saying we’re all one species.

“Heredity, Philosophy, Biology, and Chemistry”,
“DNA: An egg a day is heart okay!”,
Insanity is sanity,
A world comprised of vanity.

We couldn’t believe,
So our brains decided to leave,
Hearing and knowing,
Seeing isn’t everything!

Doing drugs is a sin,
Marijuana’s in medicine!
Getting high,
So we can fly,
But we’re not birds so we’re gonna die!

We think we know the solutions,
So we form a revolution,
When we take it upon ourselves,
We’re walking into hell!

All the fairytales and technology sales,
We didn’t see the nails,
Who are we?
We’re the definition of deranged sanity!

The creation debate, is central to the issue of is there, or is there not a God.Once you believe in God, you will believe that he created all things, just as it's written. You are searching for the truth and you have come to the right place. Keep reading your Bible. You are on the right track.

Well, I guess if you want to believe in both Creation and evolution, go for it. I can see how it would be hard as someone who's never believed in a god to all of the sudden jump to believing completely in Creation, but I personally find that easier than believing in evoltion. However, the most important thing right now is for you to decide whether or not you believe in God at all. I'm getting the feeling that you want to, and obviously to believe in Creation you have to, so maybe believing in both is a step you need to take to help you have faith in God. I can't say I know every detail of the earth's Creation since I personally wasn't there, but I recommend doing some research on both theories because it's definitely something you can make your own decision about. Just remember that that's far from the most important part of Christianity.
