  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

hi there everyone, I'm new to this site and I came here seeking help with my faith. I've never really been a religious man but the more I learn about the world and how evil it is and the more I understand duality the more I come to accept that this world has to be the product of intelligent design. My question is with all the so called 'sun gods' throughout history telling a similar story to that of Christ and some apparently dating from before Jesus how do I know I can trust the bible in a world of illusion?
Also why does God allow such evil people to be in control of this world?

Please understand I mean no offence whatsoever to anyone here I'm merely seeking guidance. Peace and love to all ❤️

If its information you want then try these web site:-
oldcasechristianity for a dectectives view on the accuracy and reliability of the bible.
or reasonablefaith for a logical explanation.

Otherwise why not see if christianityexplored site has a church near you running this course so you can explore Christianity via face to face talks.

OPtherwise, there are no 'sun gods that replicate the story of Jesus, those that show signs of doing so can be shown to be late post cjristian adaptions.

How can you trust the bible? By trusting experts who have examined the bible and found that it is reliable.

Why does God permit evil? You would prefer to be a robot programmed to obey or to have the ability to choose and to accept the consquences of that choice.

Or, my personal favorite, is to examine the Bible for yourself. Over time you'll become convinced that it is reliable. That's what happened to me, anyway. I studied the various prophecies and eventually came to the conclusion that they could not have been fulfilled without something supernatural going on.

Thank you I will check out those sources and of course I'm going to sit and read the bible for myself, I have the English standard version and also the King James Version.

I was talking with my friend and he mentioned how very few if any non Christian writers that lived at the time of Christ wrote about him, and therefore he did not exist, but when you consider the writing and scrolls that were destroyed in the great library of Alexandria alone this argument does not stack up for me, how do we know how many writings of Jesus have been destroyed by the people that control this world in order to hide god.

I'm the first to admit I'm very confused, but for some reason I believe something is leading me to the bible, leading me to Jesus and for the first time in a long time I do not feel alone.

Good for you! I too have the ESV and the KJV. Both are good translations, but I find the ESV much easier to read and understand.

Something or someOne! And you're certainly not alone. Tons of people feel the way you do -- even some Christians. People get doubts all the time, but what I do with mine is pursue them. I look at resources that are designed to bolster my belief in what the Bible teaches. There are plenty of them out there. People who negate the biblical message simply don't have a good command of the facts.

The normal rule applied to everything except Christianity, is that an author or account is considered reliable untill evidence is provided to show it is not. As I say with Christianity the bias against the idea that there is a God means it is assumed to be false without any evidence.

one quote that shows that this ideas is arogant nonsence:-
The judgement of Sir William Ramsay, the world-famous archaeologist, still stands: "Luke is a historian of the first rank . . . . This author should be placed along with the very greatest of historians."7 Given Luke’s care and demonstrated reliability as well as his contact with eyewitnesses within the first generation after the events, this author is trustworthy.

To be blunt, Luke's gospel is the gospel truth. All of it.

One thought only, why is there life on this planet? All other planets are lifeless. Since all other planets are lifeless, that is surely the evidence that planets are lifeless - well except this one. So, there has to be some detailed creator behind it or else all planets would be lifeless. God is Life, decides about life sometimes. But sometimes people kill, God decides where You end up after Your soul leaves this body You have on earth. In heaven You get a heavenly body. Why there is evil:
- If Every christian stopped praying for their country maybe Jesus would come sooner, maybe less souls were saved, maybe we would witness a shorter period of evil, or maybe not. But that would be selfish or like the virgins that fell asleep and the oil in their lamps lit out. Thats a parable in the bible about how it will be before Christ comes back.
In the bible it says If the christians will pray for their land I will come and heal their land. Meaning some things gets better, not meaning every person becomes a saint. People still have a choise. You choose among all the temptations in the world, You choose what You want to see, who to befriend. Sometimes You get forced into situations You don´t like because there are still evil people in the land.
Someone You think is evil someone else consider an angel another says she is a killer so a lot is relative. One example is abortions, we are almost forbidden to speak of it nowadays, it can grow into trauma, cancer, familybreakup and depression. Abortion, I do not think I could ever go through one but I assume those that have had their babies aborted sometimes feel grief too. I see abortion as taking a human little life and I do not want to do that. If I were in a very difficult lifesituation I would rather give up for adoption.

This was my fear, that I had been blinded by so called 'experts' from the cult of science, and only recently I've found that everything in scientific theory is the exact opposite of what the bible says going back to duality within freemasonry, and not only that EVERYTHING they claim as truth is merely a theory, I believe I've been guilty of the ignorance of arrogance, dismissing the bible without investigating for myself and for that I can only hope to be forgiven.

See this was the subject that led me to the bible, and I know at first it sounds crazy but hear me out I believe the very idea of a planet is a myth, sold to us by Nazi NASA and the Freemasons to further steer us away from the word of the bible. I believe the earth to be flat and everything NASA says to be a lie.

There are no actual photos of the globe earth and all the images we have are composites that come from NASA and there are hundreds of videos on YouTube that I urge you to look at detailing the flat earth as biblical truth that include experiments done by regular joes, or truth seekers as they like to be known, I believe we have never been to the moon because we cannot get to the moon as it is within the firmament, what science calls the van Allen belt.
I think the great deception has been the globe earth.

The ability to reason is a characteristic of God, in that God is reasonable.
You are able to reason because you are made in the image of God.

Hi JMH,

Glad to have you among us. For me, the truth of the Scriptures, and therefore the truth of God, became clear to me by the prophetic nature of the Scriptures. There are events foretold in the Scriptures, sometimes hundreds of years before they came to be in reality, that no human being could have had knowledge of. I believe the most telling example is Daniel's prophecy of the time of the coming of the Messiah, Jesus. Once I was convinced that the prophetic nature of the Scriptures could only have come from one who knows the end from the beginning, as God says of Himself, then naturally the rest of what the Scriptures said became even more important to understand.

A second reason to consider that the faith described in the Scriptures is true, as opposed to all of the other ways of faith that are before us, is the writing of the Scriptures. Most all other ways of faith find their foundational truths in the writings and musings of one person. The foundational truths being compiled during that person's lifetime. The old covenant Scriptures were compiled over a span of some 1,500 hundred years by many and various writers. Throughout all of these writings we have the same God described and explained as having worked with each of the individual writers.

The only other faith to come close to rivaling this phenomenon found in the Jewish Scriptures is the Islamic faith. That's for good reason. The Islamic faith does hold to the truth of some of the same writings of the very early Jewish faith. However, the Islamic faith fails at the most important point of the faith of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The Islamic faith denies that God has a Son. Yet the faith of the Jewish faith does tell us that God has a Son and that it is by and through this Son that man can even find forgiveness for sin and eternal life. Denying God's Son denies that God has forgiven our sin. Following the Islamic faith means following a works based faith with no clear explanation of exactly what works will provide anyone eternal life. Just that we live a good life which is all relative to what we think 'good' is.

The faith of the Hebrew Scriptures becomes very clear to us as we move into the new covenant writings. One can gain eternal life only through the acceptance of Jesus as our Savior.

Yes, there are many 'faiths' that vie for our attention and acceptance as the 'truth' of our existence. There have always been these many faiths with more and more added as time goes by. Yet, for me, only the faith carried forth to us through the Jewish Scriptures is complete and clear in its explanation of 'who' God is; 'what' God has done; and what is expected of each one of us. The last option for us is to just say that they are all made up religions of men, but such a faith then brings into question just how did all these amazing prophecies come to be written?

Could it really be just the luck of the Irish that Daniel foretold to us that at a point in time of which he could not possibly have had any knowledge of, a clock would start ticking. That at the end of that ticking clock, some hundreds of years later and precisely on time, God's Messiah, our Savior, would be walking about the earth. For me, such precision is impossible through only the knowledge and wisdom of any man.

God bless you as you seek for Him,
In Christ, ted

The idea is scientifically sound. Empty a bag of marbles on a "flat and level" surface
and you'll prove the earth is flat. Even though it may have a slight crown to it after a mile or so.

Oh don´t worry, I have a book at home about the universe. It is written and translated into Swedish It is called Vår egen Planet, Our own Planet, from basically russian and english, including Americans and Russians, many many pictures there are I believe from both Russians and Americans. Russians have been to space too and seen that the world is round from above. Maybe You should google some of their names If that gives You certainty, of course it is written different in russian but this is how it was written in the book. Valentin Lebedeb russia , Aleksandr Volkov, Russia, Dumitru Prunariu, Romania, Valerij Rjumin Russia, Anatolij Barezovoj, Valerij Kubasov, Alexej Leonov, Jevgenij Chrunov. They wrote what they did, felt and took great pics. As of my own expierience I have been going by busfrom Finland as north as Northern Russia above where it does not grow anything anymore. I have myself been driving from London to southern Germany and never fallen off, relatives have been driving to Africa, taking the boat over the seas. I have sailed on the baltic sea and the horizon looks slightly round. The sun follows a pattern so You can think out that the world is round that way if You get the suns movements explained. Maybe it is easier to understand if You live in the north and winters are dark and You have two hours light per day. When You die faith in Christ is all you have, your soul is to meet God maybe. You get pulled out of Your body and You might even see Your dead body thinking why is this happening but You have no control over Your body anymore. You, Your identity can then go to live with Your heavenly Father God,( if You have accepted Christ as a saviour of Your sins and turned away from Your sins). I have heard of people going to hell too and that is a cruel scary place so please make sure You have Your life in order. Death can come fast. Praying that is usually how we speak to God. Reading the bible is important, so You know what is true and false. It is easier to judge. If You do not like reading, try to find a place where someone reads the bible, chapter by chapter. I like any cartoonbible. Because I like to draw.

I'm the first to admit I'm very confused, but for some reason I believe something is leading me to the bible, leading me to Jesus and for the first time in a long time I do not feel alone.

I felt that way too. Something about Jesus strikes a chord that I haven't found anywhere else. I've also had the same struggles and questions you do now.

Strangely, I was already a believer when I started to doubt the authenticity of some writings. So I've been through that "crisis" a couple of times. I can't know what has been changed into what, I can't know if every word in the Bible is God's word or not (I'm inclined to think not). I take it as a spiritual book, I focus on Jesus, grace, love and hope and I take my faith as something that isn't based on scientific conclusions or tons of research, but as what it is - faith. To use an old metaphor, faith can be like a step in the dark. You can't know or see everything, but you wanted to take that step. It's alright to have the faith of a child, almost naively. So I think of myself as a child in that sense, and I try to pray with an honest heart, especially when I feel I'm weak in my faith.

Certainly it's alright to research things a lot too, if that's what you want to do. At some point, if you continue your research, you'll quickly start to notice the difference in religion and faith, and how cultures and politics can be involved. At some point I thought I lost my faith because of it, but in hindsight that's how I probably found it.

In any case, welcome and God bless you on your search.

At home we have a jewish bible that is translated into english, some parts are a bit different, I have not read through all of it. But I feel it is more accurate than that which have travelled halfway over the globe and turned and twitched through many denominations and languages before it is put to print.
