I am a working woman.... In India...
I am a High School teacher and I have this big problem of yo-yo weight!!!!
I am on Atkins on and off......for emergency reductions like now before Christmas Choir.... I need to wear the traditional dress where i should be trim ( with curves & not tyres!!!!!)
I am 5ft 4" and weigh 87kilograms.
I prefer western food and love non veg and cheese etc.... not v comfy with veggies.
Pl. share your ways of reducing.... I don't have the time to go for a swim / workout / even a walk cos my daughter has her public exams and I need to be with her .....she is in the 7th grade and needs to study for about 20 hrs a day.

that's cool that your from India,my friend is also! My secret is that I don't eat alot at every meal,I eat periodically throughout the day and eat smaller quanities like fruit and nut (granola) bars,yogart,healthy stuff,and I do not work out either,though I used too! Also I drink alot of tea and I still think we need to splurge with fatty foods too! Great having ya here!

stop eating after dinner snacks
smaller meals ( that's already been mentioned) with healthy sancks in between
look for what makes you eat, do you eat more when you unhappy, happy, stressed? What are your triggers, if you can figure out what starts you eating extra food it's easier to control it because you see it happening.

I love cheese too, but I'd try to use less, doen't cut it out all together then you end up missing it and binge? God Bless, Let us know if any of this works for you

I eat more when I am happy / sad/ working/ celebrating / mourning :help:

We gain weight by taking in more food (calories) than we can burn/use. I probably sound like a broken record in these threads :sorry: but the healthy and best way to lose weight is to eat healthy and exercise. Basically, NO fad diets, pills, etc.

No offense to the OP, but everyone can find 30 minutes out of their day and exercise. No one is that busy. It's not that much time to dedicate to getting healthy.

When I tried the eating several small meals a day, I gained quite a bit. I just couldn't sit and eat small meals. I too have gained and lost weight like a yo-yo (the first time I was pregnant, when I tried to do the several meals a day, have after I lost my 2nd child) . It depends on how much I eat and how often. If I have something that prevents me from eating (severe ulcers or something else) I can lose a lot of weight and become underweight. When I go back to stuffing my face, I gain weight. My husband keeps weight off by usually eating once each day. He is very skinny. Most people suggest not skipping meals.
Someone I knew who was a nice size told people she lost weight by switching her food to all natural, stopped eating meat and so on...

How many pounds are you looking to lose and by when?
Is this something you want to maintain as a lifestyle or a quick fix?

Maybe if you try making yourself accountable for everything you eat it would help.

Are you discilined enough to sit down and write out a list of what you eat, before you eat it? That can do several things, just seeing it in writing might do you some good.


When I said no snacks after dinner, I meant dinner being the evening before bed meal,I know differnt cultures might refer to dinner as the lunch time meal or any meal, the word are very intercahngable.

Also, make a grocery list and stick too it, keeping the food out of thehouse is a a jump start.

:idea: Maybe make a list of how many small treats you can have a day, like a cookie after lunch, make drinking water a prerequsite for the snack, then you can see what you will have later and help not eat somthing now, knowing you've allotted for something later on....small rewards along theway to keep you from grazing all day?
