  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is a really stupid question but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere.

I was wondering (don't laugh) what the noise a horse makes is called. Not "neigh", but the actual noun for it. I have a feeling it was wicker or whinny but I checked an online dictionary and the definitions were totally different.

Help! *runs in shame*

www.dictionary.com says the following for "neigh"

"The long, high-pitched sound made by a horse.
the characteristic sounds made by a horse [syn: nicker, whicker, whinny] v : characteristic of horses [syn: nicker, whicker, whinny]"

Also says it's a noun. Though looking up nicker and whinny it says both are neighing softly. Then it says whicker is to whinny. So to me it seems nicker, whinny and whicker are the same thing (neighing softly) and neigh is similar but slightly different.
