I have been a christian since birth, but I made a BAD decision and went to a fortune teller with friends years ago. 60% of what the fortune teller predicted has come true, good and bad.
She told me who I am going to marry. I am SAD that I disobeyed God, and that the fortune teller's predictions actually had power. I feel like I have no hope, I don't want to end up marrying this man although we probably will b/c we are very emotionally dependant on eachother.
I see the consequence of my sin now, I feel hopeless, WHAT SHOULD I DO??? This has been haunting me for a long time now.

Modblur,
By your statement, I see that you have repented which means "a change of mind". Since you've done that, ask God to forgive you and ask God to cut of those curses that happened because of that sin.
If your boyfriend is not saved, then I wouldn't marry them because that can drag you out of God's will even more.
Yes, the devil has power and when things are said by them through mediums, fortune tellers, etc... they go out and setup what was said.
Also, ask God to break all soul ties between him and you.
Don't make another mistake in your life if you boyfriend isn't saved.
You can part ways if that is what God wants.
When you pray the above things. Believe that they are broken and stand firm in God's Word. It's a done deal.
Thanks,
TexasTig

just want to add...
make certain you stay away from all occult, seers, fortune tellers, lucky anythings.
This stuff is real and evil.
It comes to you with nothing but evil intent.
It's primary purpose is to draw you away from God.

Once a person gets into this mess, it can be hard to get out. Watch yourself. You're on the right road now... stay on i! Be strong! All things are possible in Christ!

His,
Rev J

There are "fortune tellers" (who have no fortune themselves by the way) that have the ability to hear spirits. The word of God calls this a "spirit of divination." This is how such a spirit works:

There are "familiar spirits" that follow us, knows things about us, and, if we're out of God's will, can "set us up" to get our faith off God and on the godless. So, when you went to the fortune teller, you got the spirit of divination she's sensitive to hearing around your tailgating familiar spirit. That's two spirits talking to each other about you. Once the spirit of divination gets the skinny he relays the same to the fortune teller who, in turn, spews out things about you that she/he has no way of knowing. Of course, you're fascinated and, sadly, sucked in. Which, of course, was the intent.

There is no timeline in the spiritual realm, so our future can be seen and relayed to the fortune teller. Of course, this is not 100% accurate, because salvation (and/or free will) can interrupt what is revealed. But, in your case, it's all happening and you are alarmed. You've been manipulated into an ordeal that is highly deceptive and evil and the question is why? What is so important about you? The way you're being worked says that God has a great plan for your life and the enemy doesn't want you to know it.

It also says that you are not spending enough time reading God's word. Gospels of Luke and John, Ephasians especially, as well as all the books in the New Testament, you should be reading several verses or a chapter a day, attend Bible studies and church regularly and surround yourself with Christian friends and acquaintances. Yes, this takes time, but you want to start the process. The same is also what Lord Jesus commands for our lives.

Now you noted that you are co-dependant on a flesh and blood man, who is not your husband yet. It could be that you (unknowingly) have made him your god. Worse, it doesn't sound like you two have much of a spiritual connection, yet you are planning to walk into a marriage with someone based on a fortune teller's prediction. You've given a lot of thought to this fortune teller, and it is her words that are alive in your head. And you fear it. And to fear it says you have faith in it. God's word will pull your faith to the place it should be, if you diligently read and feed upon it.

Lord Jesus says, "If you continue in my word then you are my disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall MAKE you free," John 8:32 KJV. In other words, no lie or deception can withstand God's word.

Throughout this process you want to pray and you want people praying for you. Ask them each week to keep them praying so they won't forget, and trust that a breakthrough will come. And stop letting the enemy play you about something God forgave you for when you asked Him the first time.

God bless you,

The Guide

Fortune tellers get "Powers" from Satan whispering in their ears. It sound as though you are truly sorry and have repented. You have to forgive yourself. God has forgiven you. As for the man, if you are having 2nd thoughts about marrying him then don't do it right now. give it a little more time, but the first thing you have to do is to set yourself free from the sin of going to te fotune teller. God bless

It could be that you (unknowingly) have made him your god.
Whether you end up married or not, the emotional dependence can wear you down. Start working on that before you work on an all-or-nothing decision. People who find themselves in this pattern usually find themselves seeking out the same pattern in the next relationship. It's like battered wives, who finally leave one abuser and then lean on another.

By your statement, I see that you have repented which means "a change of mind". Since you've done that, ask God to forgive you and ask God to cut of those curses that happened because of that sin.
I agree. Don't continue to give it power by fearing its consequences. Neither life nor death nor angels nor principalities... can separate you from the love of God.

I would think the fortune tellers predictions only have power if you give them power.

Repent of your sin and do not turn back, and you WILL be forgiven! When has someone ever not been forgiven by the Lord after repenting? If you turn, the Lord WILL not withhold forgiveness from you, no matter what. It is his desire that you turn to Him. If you take the Lord seriously, He will take you seriously. Remember, repent means to turn from sin for good. Do not complicate this more than it needs to be. Likewise, if you decide you want to keep consulting fortune tellers, your sin remains. That simple. There are no rituals necessary, just turning from the sin and acknnowledging the Lord's love and forgiveness for your sins.

James 4:7-9 (New International Version)

7Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom.

Also remember the Lord's prayer, and take it seriously. If you forgive your brother's debts, your debts will be forgiven, no questions asked. If you saw someone else consulting fortune tellers and they were torn apart about it and felt remorse, would you forgive them or say "You monster!"?

Matthew 7:10-12 (New International Version)

11If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

Also, what Heron is quoting also applies:

Romans 8:38-39 (New International Version)

38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

This is some good advice, I would be praying for you. Get into the presence of God and ask for the mind of Christ. Turn all your attention on God and his plan for your life.

God bless
