Help Finding a Verse

Well, I was sitting on my sofa about to study and doing a lot of thinking about my life, what God wants me to do with it, etc.

I started thinking, as I sometimes do, about something random. Except, it was a bible verse. I started thinking "1 thessalonians 3 through 8"..of course I don't have a chapter so I don't know if I was just thinking or what. I ran to get my bible and looks at both the first chapter 3rd and eight verse and also looked at chapter 3 verse 8 and all sorts of others. They didn't say much that really stood out to me.

Does anyone know of any common (commonly quoted) verses in the book of 1 Thessalonians? Could you please post them here? I am at a loss. Maybe I was just sorting my thoughts.

The only one that comes to my mind is: "We are not trying to please men but God, who tests our hearts." (1 Thessalonians 2:4) Maybe because it is important to me when I catch myself 'wondering what others will think'.

Inperfected has it right - random thoughts produce random results, and often incorrect ones.


Old saw - young christian looking for guidance in his life, decides to open the bible various places at random and do what he reads. So he closes his eyes, opens his bible, puts his finger down and reads

(regarding Judas) "Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself." Matt 27:5

He shakes his head, not getting it, and opens to another place

"...Then Jesus said to him, 'Go and do likewise.'" Luke 10:37

What, he should hang himself? At this point he definitely doesn't like the trend, and so he opens one last time to read

"What you do, do quickly." John 13:27
