  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

My name is Gretchen. I am searching for Christ-centered support for binge eating. Not sure I will find it here. This site is very confusing!!
Hi Gretchen your problem is like any other addiction or psychological problem that has a trigger and you have established a pattern of reaction. I know a few people who have overcome by faith severe issues and they would write on paper all the Bible verses that applied to the situation for instance one guy had on a pack of smokes I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me and the fruit of the spirit is love joy peace...SELF CONTROL.. He had tried everything to quit and shortly after taking this stand he was able to say no no matter how strong the urge was and over a little time he had victory over it and has not looked back. I know Jesus loves you even when you are struggling with this and He promised us the Spirit would indwell us and that is not a spirit of fear but of power love and a strong mind.
Prayer, an accountability partner and standing on God's word like resist the devil and he will flee from you have helped countless saints overcome their compulsions. Ill be praying for you and God bless you and welcome.

Welcome! First, this site is much easier to navigate on a computer than a smartphone, so that may help the confusion. Second: The forum for eating disorders is Eating Disorders

Thank you for posting! I am a veteran when it comes to this stuff. I have "overcome" multiple addictions...food, drugs, nicotine, alcohol, relationships. I had 27 years sobriety from binge eating, but in the last 4 months or so it started up again and in the last little bit has been off the charts. My trigger is trauma, and unfortunately I have trauma that is ongoing and inescapable. I have been pressing into God and His Word for 30 years. In fact, it was what you describe that set me free from bulimia back in the very early 90s. Today, I feel deeply discouraged and wonder if I can ever be free and stay free. When I look at the larger picture it seems like "whackamole addiction." I feel so hurt, so angry, so frustrated. Why does God leave it so hard to just simply be obedient? I am 56 years old and losing my mind! I have tried multiple times to find real accountability and support for my binge eating. I've tried to access multiple online groups that sadly don't seem to exist. It reminds me of years ago, around 1990, I couldn't find anyone to help me the way I needed help. After 13 years of therapy, I was more out-of-control than ever. So I fired the "Christian" therapist I had and hired the Holy Spirit. About 2.5 years later I was free.

I could do that again, and maybe I will. But I was hoping to at least find some support and accountability this time from others who get my particular challenges. Like trying to find a needle in a haystack!

Hi sister. What i have learned to understand about addictions is that we have been divided in ourselves by ourselves, because of the lies we believe about ourselves. (and God)

Applying God's love to us in our addicted self is the best way to find our freedom back. Don't judge yourself when you fall, but rather call upon Jesus in your fallen self, and ask Him to save your from being like this, and eat His grace.

This is the secret. Eating God's grace when you have fallen, will bring God's love in your heart for yourself the fallen sinner that you have become. Please receive the graceful love from God in your fallen selves, time and again. The good thing is that love for God doesn't want to do wrong, so the more grace you eat the more His love will come down in your heart, the stronger you will be able to resist the spirit of addiction, until you find your freedom back in Him completely.

The process takes as long as it takes for us to break with our unfaithful love, for that spirit in us, makes us use God's good creation wrongly.

i found that praising The Lord really helps fighting addiction. The more you praise God in your fallen self, especially when you are in the mood/spirit to do wrong, the faster you will be freed from unfaithful love forcing you to do it wrong. When you can lay down your life in wrong willingly for Jesus, because you love Him more than your addiction, He will raise you up in Newness of life. He set me free from lots of addictions, often praising Him for His love from beginning to end, for it is great to grow in new life and see sin die with in you.

Please be of good courage Jesus loves to give you control over your life here.

Peace.
