Hello. I've been trying for maybe around two years to be saved (might not be the best way to put it). I'm kind of here just so I can learn what I need to believe in order to be saved. If anyone can help me out with that, thank you. Might just end up moving on if this forum isn't conducive to that goal.

good starting point is believing in Jesus as your savior

John 3:36
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

John 14:15
If ye love me, keep my commandments.

Welcome to CF :)

Romans 10:9-10
9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

Is God here referring to the Father?

(and thanks for the welcome)

Yes, it is.

A few other verses will enlarge upon the one I gave.

Along with belief comes repentance. (repentance at its most basic simply means to turn away from evil)
Acts 3:19
19
Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.

Confession and forgiveness
1 John 1:9
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

You do not need a minster to confess to, you can do so directly to God.
Anything more is about living as a Christian rather than becoming a Christian.

Do we need to confess all the past sins we can remember?

(and thank you)

If something specific comes to your mind yes, but if not that is alright too. God already knows all of our sins so confessing and repenting in general, will cover them if nothing is pressed upon you. Oftentimes a particular sin comes to mind more so because we need to be freed from the guilt of it.

Welcome from another newbie!
What must you believe to be saved?
Believe Jesus Christ! That's it!
See John 5:24, John 3, John 6:40, Romans 3:23-24, 5:1-2, Rev. 22:17
Salvation is a free gift of God thru faith in Jesus Christ.
Do you recognize that you are a sinner in need of a savior?
Do you believe that Jesus died in your place, for your sin, on His cross, and that He rose from the dead?
If so, the you are saved! And at that moment you receive all that God has promised to those who believe; the Holy Spirit, eternal life, a future home in Heaven, everthing is yours as a child of God.
Salvation is simple. All that is required is faith in Christ. Nothing more and nothing less. Trust Christ. Read your Bible! God Bless! PM me if you need more info.

Welcome leefromcanada! And welcome to the start of a wonderful adventure. I highly recommend, along with those who wrote before I did, that you start with placing your faith in the finished work of the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and admitting your sins. Following in baptism is an act of obedience. You'll find this by the examples that Jesus taught in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and by what the first Believers did in the book of Acts. After that, I highly recommend that you dig into the old testament to see what God was like when He started this all, and how He first picked a people to be His "demonstration project" to the rest of us. You'll get a solid foundation on how much God loves us and how much He hates unrighteousness, how He gave us sensible rules to live our lives by, and what happened with His people chose to go far away from that path, along with what happened when they got enough of the disaster and turned back to God. That'll set you up well for studying the rest of the book.

Is it correct that the Father raised Jesus from the dead, Jesus raised Himself from the dead, and that the Holy Spirit raised Jesus from the dead?

Thanks for the welcomes scruffydog, Greengardener, and Deade. (and anyone else I might have missed)

Is it possible to change your "Faith" once you've already set it?

Sure it is. Our very growth, as Christians, will change as we mature in Christ. Look at my profile and look up my website for a free copy of my first published book.

I actually meant the "Faith" you pick that shows up under your username in posts. Mine is set to Seeker right now (yours is Christian). Thank you for the offer though.

Step one is in understanding the problem. It is generally harder to know how to be saved if one does not understand what one must be saved from.
