I don't see anything wrong with going to a casino. It's when people start making foolish decisions thinking they're going to win some huge jackpot.
Hubby and I often like to sit and ponder what we would do if we ever won the mega millions jackpot. We used to play one number each drawing, costing us $2 a week. Every now and then we would joke "okay, I just bought the winning ticket. Let's go buy a boat".
There are actually people out there who BELIEVE that they should go out and buy the boat, because their lottery winnings or casino winnings will pay for it...never mind the fact they haven't won yet.
I used to go to some of the casinos, not on a regular basis, but I went to one in Canada as part of an office Christmas party, and I occasionally go to one up north in Michigan with my dad.
For awhile my previous job entailed parking in the lot that belonged to the casino across the street in Detroit. We could park for free providing we went in to the casino and got our tickets validated. Well, I felt kinda guilty for that, so when I went in to validate my tickets, I'd put a fiver in one of the slot machines. I found a nickel slot that I particularly liked. It was fun, had a story line and it made $5 go a long way.
Well, that paid off. I eventually won a $1500 jackpot off it. Two weeks later I went on maternity leave and haven't been back.
But...on the flip side, I have a relative who plays at the casinos all the time. You know those old ladies with blue hair, oxygen tanks, cigarettes and white gloves? That's my great aunt. She practically lives at the casino. She rarely wins, but she is certain she will win the "big one" any day now. This is when I think gambling becomes a sin - when it overpowers everything in your life.
About that bus trip...there is a saying that coincidence is merely God choosing to remain anonymous. I think that case was a fair representation of coincidence!
