• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Here is something I would like to share.. first of all, I was diagnosed with a slow learning disablity when I was about 2 or 3.. I think it was 2 and here was some signs that maybe helpful to you.. Obsession with things, slow developement, low confidence, inability to reason, communicate, math, science, etc. Inability to stay on track, remembering, etc. No choice of words to help you remember, I would like to find the hidden cause, either I was born on drugs, malnurished, or when you are abused your mind has difficult time with your brain patterns. Inability to love. God healed me.. when I got hurt this is what happened.
#1. Forgot who I was.. bitterness.
#2. Dwelling on the negative
#3. inability to reason remember things
#4. Study, or take notes, staying on track.
#5. Lost some sense of smell, sight, and touch.
#6. Last but not least, afraid to think again on good things or normal thoughts..Even loss of coordination, speech and motor skills. I know this can happen if you don't use your brain.. anyone like to share thoughts? What actually happened to my brain? I mean I know I cut it off from doing it's daily activities.. but it's bizzare.

I might add, that I stopped studying Neurology if you can imagine, here is what I did..I put my studies on the back burner and nearly forgot everything I learned, could this because I was trying to heal? or taking a break? I might also add that during those times, it was like I just said.. "Oh well." Like I didn't care anymore..? Any thoughts?

Sometimes, I lose all interest in somrething (at least temporarily, like what happened to you with neurology. For me, I think my brain just is taking a break...like if it needs all its poweer to deal with emotional issues, I think it shuts down towards some other things that are harder to deal with.

Also, what did you mean by "obsession with things"

I sometimes count objects over and over if I am tense, do you mean like that?

Sometimes I get sort of afraid of thinking too hard. It all seems to end in pain anyways, but I try to accept that everything will just end up painful, so that I can continue to open up and let people in.

I am very glad God helped to heal you of a number of things though.

I don't know why you went through wat you did, but I would guess that it might be part regression and part depression that caused it, because that is what seems to cause it in me.

Hi BBtt,
I just found this thread and this is very interesting! My son will be 24 next month and he has all the same symptoms. I'm shocked to see the symptom of "inabilty to reason" He has this Sooooooooooooo Bad!! It is so frustrating! He was diagnosed in 4th grade with a learning Disability and ADD in 4th grade but I think it started much earlier then that and I didn't know.
Maybe we can talk about this sometime!!! I always wonder the same thing....what happened to his brain!!!!!! It drives me crazy thinking about it!!
