  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi everyone! I'm Lorraine, Raine for short, 25 from Philippines. I'm a nurse/teacher but is currently working as a freelance writer. I know it's kind of odd, and it's one of the reasons why I wanted to join a Christian community: I'm a little confused about the road to take (should I be a teacher? Or a nurse?). I can't seem to hear God's answer...

So... If you have any advice, I'm listening :) Really need some guidance here.

Thanks!I'll go ahead and read some in this forum.

Raine, welcome to CF. Hoping you'll bring a little sunshine. ;)

Teacher or nurse? Both are very much need. I would go with whichever you love the most. God doesn't mind which one you do as long as you do your very best.

Thank you! :) I love them both actually, but I couldn't have full time jobs doing the two.. perhaps I have to think some more on what I love better..

Hello Raine!! Kamusta ka? You could teach at a nursing school. In that way, you won't have to choose. seriously, I pray you'll get to know God's calling in your life.

I didn't think of that before :) Lagi ko kasi iniisip na I'll teach elem and hs students :) Thanks for the advice, I'll keep it in mind :)

Fellow teacher here! I teach science in a private Catholic school to students in grades 3 to 6 :) I love working with young students. I'm starting my 8th year of teaching in September ~ but even I still have dreams of one day maybe doing something else (I love working with animals too - teaching just seemed like a better option at the time).

We have a Women's Discussion forum that you might like to pop into to talk about your professions and skills and why you would like to be a teacher or a nurse. I'm sure the Ladies would love to discuss the topic with you!

God bless,
Tati

Wow, thank you! I have decided to teach! I'll check out the thread, maybe I can relate to some topics and contribute what I know. I'll definitely learn from there :)
