Hello I'm new, my story

Hello I'm Ranae, was raised Roman Catholic and lost my way all the way to paganism (after I was told I could not come back to my church). I still worshiped Jesus and God only now in a different environment. (read the bible, prayed in my own prayer closet) Sometime later and in another state, went to church and love it, but I was told that since I was a women I could not ever receive the Holy Spirit, after stating that I felt I was spirit filled.. which of course that knocked the sails out of me and back to paganism style worship I went.. never letting any of my pagan friends know who I worshiped. Anyhow a few years later in another state, my daughter now 16 wants to become a christian and wanted me to check out her church this was a great church and soon I was involved, 4 years ago the Bishop closed down our little church and I have been wandering since. Both my children are Christian, both are different kinds (lots of fighting there), and I don't agree with either one of them and am seeking my own. Love to talk with others, looking for community and friends.

Hi there and Welcome to CF!!!
I am so sorry to hear about your trials in the various churches...I can't get over the fact you were told you couldn't get the Holy Spirit especially as it says in the Bible that everyone will experience the HS in their lives.(I think its in Acts but I'm sure you know this :0))
I think the only way to look at this is as a journey...I saw a quote once that said although we start on a straight road we always return a different way and I think this is so true. I have been through a few churches before finding one that suited me to the ground...it just felt right for me...God had obviously guided me there... so my advice would be to stick with it...it is so easy to get involved in other spirituality especially when it gives people the 'immediate experience' (been there myself) but the long haul journey is definately with Christ so please keep praying and check out other churches while you are doing this...May the Lord bless you and keep you and may he guide and inspire you as you search for a place to worship in community.
