  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi, I am Dave and I am in the US Army. I was living an athiest life and it even said "No religious preference" on my dogtags since I didn't believe. As a kid I grew up in the church, active weekly in a program called "The Royal Rangers". Heard of them? Well, after I was 13 or so, I kinda stopped going and never went back until now. During that time, I was married and divorced twice, and am now on my 3rd marriage. Not a very Christian way to live. In 2005, my current wife convinced me to go to church with her and I did. It was a Pentacostal bible thumping kind of church that held several hundred people at once. I mean BIG. This was in Lakeland, FL. She joined the choir and became an active member. I just went with her to church to support her, but it didn't work for me. I still didn't buy into it. I liked the pastor alot but still, nothing managed to get me excited about it. Eventually I stopped going, convinced people talking in tongues, running up and down the aisles, was all for show. Fast forward to May 12th, 2008. I am doing Army training in Ft. Polk, LA with my unit. One night, as I sat in my barracks area, getting ready to sleep, I noticed a Chinese soldier reading in English (not very well) out of a book called "The Scroll that the Lamb Opened" I believe it was. While I was watching this go on, it occured to me that he was reading about walking in the footsteps of God, and about His 6,000 year management plan. Something came over me that I can only now explain as God's work through this wonderful Chinese soldier. He was trying so hard to read the best he could in English to one of my soldiers about God. Right then, something prompted me to seek out my Chaplain. He was just starting a nightly Bible study group. I sat in and told him that a Chinese soldier reading in broken English was ministering to my soldier. My Chaplain told me God has a way of working through people. The Chinese soldier, Simon, had come halfway around the world, joined the US Army in San Francisco, and gave me a sign to better my life, religiously and otherwise. Ever since then, we meet several times a week to read from the book. Not only is he getting better at his vocabulary, but I am filled with love, happiness, and joy I never before realized. On June 22nd, my Chaplain is going to Baptize me. My wife is blown away. I did a total 180 in my life and feel great! Not sure how this happened but it feels right. I am so happy to tell people what I think about Jesus! In fact I was so happy, I had a vision to do more. I started a store called mlchristian at cafepress.com to spread His word even further! Man, I am going to be busy spreading God's word! I would like however, to have anyone pray for me to never stray off the path to Him ever again. Thanks for praying for me and I love this site! Feel free to PM me or email me. Support and bless the Troops!

Welcome to CF.

You gotta be my twin brother.
I mean you have the similar story I have.

I was, too, Sunday School kid, had 'No religious preference' on my dogtags and started going back to church while I was stationed at Ft. Knox.
I was sent to the Desert Storm and became a sincere theist out of foxhole which cannot hold no atheist.

Well, I didn't have to dig a foxhole in the sand storm, because our foxhole was a brand new apartment building with running water.
However, we were the target of the Scud missile that frequently flew over to us in the beginning of the war.
In fact, a NG unit out of PA stationed not to far from us got hit direct and the whole unit was blown up.

I quit the Army after the war but kept the seriousness about church going.
Like you did, I followed my wife to a Pentecostal Korean church but wasn't able to quench my search for God.
In my struggle, I happened to find a nondenominational American church in my neighborhood and have been with the church ever since.

Like your Chinese buddy, I read NIV in English and, of course, had to sing and listen to English sermon.
I am getting better with English but still struggling.

I hope to be in touch with you here at the CF board.
I also hope to hear from your Chinese buddy.

Keep in touch!

Praise god for both of you and welcome to the best Christian forum I have ever found. Happy Memorial Day from a fellow soldier. If you havent already check out the Men's Corner. It is in the Ministry section, Life Stages subsection. There are some good men there to fellowship with. I believe somewhere on the site is a military section too.

I am active duty currently deployed to Baghdad. But that will change very soon. I am stationed at Moncreif Army Community Hospital in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. If you have any questions about CF drop me a private message (PM).

Ft. Jackson, that was where I got my basic.

Just like God said to Joshua, 'Be courageous because I (God) am with you'.

Welcome_Angel.jpg

Hi, welcome to Christian Forums! I'm your CF Angel!

My name is FaithfulWife and I'm glad you're here. This place can be big and confusing, so here are a few things that might help you:

First you should know that CF just finished a BIG (gigantic, huge) upgrade. There were some changes and some new features, so people are just beginning to learn their way around. If you have questions please Private Message (PM) me and I'll answer if I can (I'm not a Microsoft tech but I might know the answer!)

To get blessings, you can go to the Blessings Exchange forum. We play games and take quizzes to earn blessings! You also get blessings for each post, so the more you post, the more blessings you'll have! You can also get 100 blessings from me just for meeting one friend: FaithfulWife's Newbie Blessing Game! BTW...;) *I* am a very friendly person. ;)

To get a character, go to the top, right corner of the Home Page, and see [User CP] next to [Home]? Click on [User CP] (that stands for User Control Panel). Scroll down a little bit and on the lefthand side click Edit Avatar. On the next page, click Living Avatar--and then decide if you want to Edit Avatar (your character) or Purchase Items. You will need to select a body, hair, eyes, lips, and eyebrows/facial hair for your character to be seen. I personally chose to show my CF Angel wings, but you can choose whatever works for you!

You might find it helpful to look in our Welcome Center where we have topics like "New Member Intros", "For New Christians" and "Christian Forums How-To?" all to answer some of your questions and help you get around.

Finally, you might want to look in the Life Stages forums to find a group that fits you. I'm in the Women's Discussion, Parenting, and Marriage Ministry, and there's a life stage there to fit YOU!

If you have any questions you can always send me a Private Message (PM) anytime, and I'd be happy to help ya!

Welcome Soldier!

What an amazing story you have here. It brought tears to my eyes. God truly does make miracles happen every day. I too, am in the Army NG. 806th MP Company out of Ft Pierce, Florida. Thank you for your service.

Continue to commit yourself to the Lord. He has plans for everyone. If you need anything give me a shout. I am going to get baptized soon as well, before becoming ordained.

I love hearing from fellow military members. I'm from central FL by the way, Lakeland!

Hooah!

I've been all around Florida to be blunt. LOL

I'm originally from Manchester, NH. I joined the guard under split-option and went to BCT at Leonard Wood my junior year, and AIT at Leonard Wood my senior year. Then, after graduating AIT, I requested transfer to Florida and by the grace of God it got granted. I now live with my fiancee in North Fort Myers, Florida, but when I first moved to Florida, I lived in Miami, and then Cocoa, Florida.

Feel free to pm me, if you have any messengers you can also add me, I'm always online
