This is my first decent free verse poem called "Stress."
I am seventeen
And I have lost my mother.
The people I cannot live without
Don't go to my school.
I suffer from loneliness without them,
But I do my best
To keep my head held high,
And keep my mind pure
In an non-pure world.
I try to live on Romans 1:16,
And "brag on my Lord,"
And put my trust in Him.
Anything to do with music
Helps me get rid of stress
Stress is a killer.
It kills joy.
It tries to bring you down
And destroy you
But God says, "I will strengthen you
And help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
This reminds me to give my troubles to God
When I can no longer carry the load.
Stress is a killer.
People commit suicide
Because they don't reach out to their friends
And ask for help and advice.
Find the people who are your true friends
And stay with them
Because their friendships will last a lifetime.
And remember,
The Lord is a Fortress,
A Strong Tower,
A Sturdy foundation.
Stability.
