I just found out that my High School for it's spring musical will be putting this on.

They've done this one before, but I wasn't at the high school yet when it was performed.

Does anyone know of any background information or plot to this musical? I'm just curious because I don't know much about this one.

now this i do know about! ;)

its all about Mrs Dolly Levi, a widow who arranges things for people, such as marrages or detal appointments etc. one of her clients is the well known quarter of a millionaire (forgotten his name :() who she falls in love with. He owns a store in which he employs two men. He also lives in this store with his Neice who is in love with an Artist, however he will not consent to the marraige. Dolly arranges for the quarter of a millionaire (this will teach me for forgetting his name) to go and meet a lady (he is also a widower). Since Dolly loves this guy she doesnt really want the quarter of a millionaire to meet this woman and so sends both the clerks of the store to meet the two ladies who run this hat shop (one of them being the woman that she has sent the quarter of a millionaire to see). she also sends the quarter of a millionaires daughter and the Artist to New York to the Harmonia Gardens (a place that Dolly used to go with her husband). Once everyone is in New York not much happens the quarter of a milionaire sees that the hat shop owner has met another man (one of the clerks from the shop), and so walks away, Dolly then sets up a meeting between him and one of her actress friends who she tells to be as annoying as she can be. The two clerks take the two hat shop owners to the Harmonica Gardens, the quarter of a millionaire takes Dollys friend to the Harmonica Gardens, and the quarter of a millionaires neice and artist lover are there to enter a dancing competition. Dollys friend leaves after showing the quarter of a millionaire what women are like, and then Dolly enters. (this is where the main show song Hello Dolly comes into place) Dolly then sits down with the quarter of a millionaire and they have a meal. I cant remember what happens next, but everyone ends up being arrested, and Dollys silver tounge lays the blame at the quarter of a millionaires feet. The two clerks - having enough of the quarter of a millionaires treatment - decide to start business up across the street in Direct competition with the quarter of a millionaire. Dolly persuades him to take them back as partners, which he does and then confesses that he loves Dolly. Dolly and him get married, and i think he gives his blessing on his neice and her lover.

whew..... i hope you could follow that... there is alot that happens in Hello Dolly... cant really give a decent blurb... i tried tho!! ;) :D

i have no idea what you mean by running order, so until i know i cant do anything.

but you really should try out, even if your not very musical, you still could get chorus, which is really fun, cos you get the whole show-experience without all the pressure of being a lead
