  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

My name is Drew (penNpaper) and I normally post in Singles but decided to introduce myself in the Writer's Guild forum. I've been a member of this site since 2006.

I do have a passion for writing - I'm good with poetry and with short stories ideas. I'm currently getting back in my focus on writings and doing a small project - Reunited Singles - for the Singles community for Christian Forums.

So I wanted to ask you a few questions to get feedback and interact with fellow creative peeps on this message. It was nice to meet you all.

When did you start with your creative hobby (writing, poetry, lyrics, ect)? Everyone has a story to tell when they first had a sparkle for writing.

How do you take Godly professional criticism? When you do receive harsh negative feedback what do you do exactly to not let it bother you and keep on writing?

Is there any good websites about manuscript formats to turn your finished story into a manuscript form.

What sort of genre do you prefer writing?

Any creative ways to keep you focus in your writing projects?

God Bless,
Drew

Hello, Drew. I go by Caner, but if you forget and call me Resha I'll still answer. ;)

When did you start with your creative hobby (writing, poetry, lyrics, ect)? Everyone has a story to tell when they first had a sparkle for writing.

2nd grade. I wrote a story called "The Gold Miners" because my sister was getting a lot of attention from my dad for writing stories and I was jealous. After doing it, however, I had this odd sensation of being totally absorbed by the story. It was a such a rush that I've been doing it ever since.

It hurt really bad the first time I got a harsh critique. I don't know why I kept going, but I did, and over time my skin grew thick. Now, I prefer honesty. The rush comes from publishing, not from having friends tell you something is good when it's not. It's just a matter of maturity.

Is there any good websites about manuscript formats to turn your finished story into a manuscript form.

Everybody wants something different. Target specific publishers and learn what it is they want (That is an encyclopedia of information compressed into two sentences).

What sort of genre do you prefer writing?

I hate the idea of "genre." I've tried it and I stink at it. I have to write what my muse tells me to write. As such, I tend to be classified as "speculative." I have, however, published SF, fantasy, romance, humor, and literary fiction along with historical and technical nonfiction.

So, I read the same way. I'll read anything that is good. I don't care what genre it comes from.

Any creative ways to keep you focus in your writing projects?

You want the honest answer? Writing is a job (at least it is if you want to be published). Learn to love the work.
