  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

you know, I had a friend of mine who wrote a compesition on annihilationism. It's a very interesting view of Hell. Basicly it believes that is described as the outskirts of a city they speak of in the OT where it's an eternal blazing fire of trash and garbage. The fire consumes the garbage untill it is no more... and so annihilation believes that when Hell is described this is what it speaks of. The souls that die apart from Christ don't spend an eternal place in torment, but rather cease to exist after being engulfed by darkness/sin/complete seperation from God (assuming we're not COMPLETELY seperated while we are breathing God's oxygen).

It's interesting thought, and support for it as well. It's not something I accept for my beliefs but very credible in my opinion.

here is the word document. It's very in depth (and after speaking to him this was sort of the begining of his current thoughts -- they're extended past the 9 pages here).

You can still skim some of it though.

-- sorry apparantly I cannot upload it. I'll create a new thread to save from hijacking this one.

I agree - hell is the absence of God's love - the opposite of this verse - our hope.

Romans 8:38-39 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
