I believe that hell exists - it is the place where satan and all the other fallen angels 'live'. I believe that if you have not accepted Jesus as saviour by the time you die then you will go there as nothing sinful can enter Heaven. I believe that by virtue of the fact that you are not with God then that is what hell is - seperated from His presence but knowing that He is true and you cannot be with him.

If there is no hell there is no real reason to accept God now as we will get to Heaven anyway.

I voted for eternal seperation, loneliness and distress. That seems to be what the Bible suggests it will be like.

A good book to read is Adrian Holloway's "The Shock of your life".

really,I sorta agree with you here

i believe Jesus teachings,Gods law is purely for us,not or afterlife purposes,or for some petty marking of things we mess up

i was atheist,as atheist as you can be,till I was 21
then without any effort or search on my side-there was God in my life,and gosh I tried to dispute it for at least 10 years,gave up finaly some time ago..cant be done,cos if I am real,so is God

erm, no not like limbo...if my idea about limbo is correct. Isn't limbo just nothing..no joy, no torment just blah?

oops i was saying two seperate things here.

Limbo i meant is that the temporay type place - its just blah, but im sure there is a meaning behind it (whoever invented the concept). the place you stay until god decides if you need heaven.

another weird option i thought (kind of joking) was a sort of reincarnation - a groundhog day scenerio, where you live your life (but not new life each time) again and again till you rectify mistakes... and reach...nirvan....i mean heaven

Most Universalists don't believe everyone get's a free ticket to heaven you know. I think people still have to accept God and repent of their sins to get there...I just believe that eventually everyone will do this and that accepting/repenting is something that can happen once our earthly lives are over. I also don't think that there is no punishment at all but rather it's temporary.

that wasn't what i was said. Accepting Christ brings with it the promise of eternal life but that is only part of it. We still need to live life for God.
However if we all get to go to heaven whether or not we believe in God or accept Him as saviour what is to stop us living lives solely for us now because we'll go to Heaven anyway

I take that statement as being everywhere on Earth, within the universe and in heaven. I think Hell is a place outside the universe and cut off from Heaven, and is territory that God for some reason has given to the Devil.

So in short Hell is the only place where one is shut off from God. Sorry if this is confusing!

plenty of non-christian people live lives far more worthy of many christians - without any sort of belief in the afterlife.

what you are saying "uses" christianity as a bargaining tool to persuade people to behave. it is a very simplistic and incorrect way of looking at things.

jesus came to earth to bring the kindgom of god with him and through us, to bring heaven to earth, not to highlight a few people for "salvation".

ah i see...so your god finds it to be impossible to be everywhere? how can god give the devil a home and then torture him in it? (im confusing people now).

No - it's a benefit of it.

how do you KNOW that is true?

how do you KNOW what happens in the afterlife?

how do you KNOW what "faith in christ" actually means?


personally i dont KNOW for sure any of these things, i have been a christian for 10 years and i am still learning what "faith in christ" is all about - as for the afterlife, ill just have to wait i suppose. i certainly wouldnt tell a "non-believer" that he is going "to hell" unless he "accepts christ".

in my opinion what you said is a theory that tries to grab at a truth that cannot be known, and that combats a "doctrine of works".

you are right - you cannot know about these things completely. i am just going one what i believe the bible says about the matter. at the end of the day i want to live my life such that it is honouring to God - if i die and there is nothing there then i have not lost out. if i die and everyone goes to heaven then i am not going to pout about it as i would much rather everyone on this earth live with God in glory.

i would like to ask though. how do you feeling about this? would you say that god is entirely loving then, knowing that is is watching and aware of this suffering he imposed?

It is not imposed by God, we have been given the ability to act volitionally.
