  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I just started watching this anime. It has a very interesting premise to be sure. Basically at midnight, people go onto a website and type in the name of the person they want to take revenge on. Then the Hell Girl appears before them and tells them that she will kill that person and take their soul to hell. However in exchange, their soul will also go to hell when they die.

Has anyone else watched Hell Girl?

I do find the premise interesting, but one thing I don't get is why anyone, even if looking for revenge, wouldn't mind going to hell for that to take effect. It defies logic... I don't know, maybe I'll scout out the first episode of it on YouTube.

I watched it all the way through. The "X wants revenge on Y because of Z" formula gets repeated a few too many times for my liking: there must be a good 18/24 episodes that are stand-alone repetitions of the same basic premise.

So it's an interesting series, and some of the animation is wonderful, but it does drag rather. The ending sort of makes up for it though. There's a second series apparently, but I don't think it's been dubbed yet.

I watched the series straight through in about 4 days when I had the flu about 3 years ago. The story had some dull parts where the plot was the same in every frakkin' episode, but the plot did get more engaging toward the end.
The art was magnificent and the premise was interesting. The opening song "Sakasama No Chou" by SNoW is my absolute favorite anime opening ever.

I saw the two seasons both before but never really got into it except the OSTs..I mean, the concept is not really something we should be involving ourselves with, even if it's just for entertainment, I hope I didn't offend you guys, I also watch anime.. =)

Most of the premises of the episodes are about revenge on terrible people, keep that in mind. It's been a while since I watched it, but one of the episodes was about a high school girl with a homicidal stalker, no one would take her seriously and protect her so she turned to Enma Ai, the Hell Girl, who was the only person who would help her.

She held off till the last moment, not wanted to go to hell herself, but she was going to be raped and murdered so she had no other option.

Personally I think that only the last half of the series really had an interesting plot.

If I was her I would rather be murdered than sent to an eternity of rotting decay in hell.
Do you have a link to an episode or two by any chance?

The Japanese version of hell is significantly different than the Christian version from what I understand.

I don't have any links, I watched the show by borrowing it from a friend, lol. She got her episodes online, but I don't know where and it's been years since I watched it.
I would check youtube, they might have a few episodes...

from what little I could tell before never watching any more episodes. Everyone involved. Both the sendee, and the sender, would eventually be reborn on earth to start the cycle over. there were a couple of episodes that supported that.

That would make sense, considering the majority of Japanese people are Buddhist. The river Sanzu that Enma takes the sendee down in show is a part of Shinto mythology, but Shinto and Buddhism don't REALLY have a concept of hell. Only karma and rebirth.
